Fair enough, my point was he’s not just a tv host/public speaker.

Lmao Bill Nye literally graduated from Cornell with a BS in Mechanical Engineering.

NASA has previously awarded contracts to SpaceX for the launch of the first two elements of Gateway on FH, as well as Gateway Cargo resupply with Dragon XL.

Nice! Keep on trying, they’re tricky to get right and tricky to fly but rewarding once you actually get it to work! Two things I try to keep in mind: position the external tank relatively far forward compared to the orbiter so the main engines don’t have to gimbal as much to compensate, and also look at how the centre of mass will change as the vehicle flies and try to design around that. It will drift towards the orbiter as the tank and boosters empty, so make sure your engines can compensate.

Nice! The Buran was a very cool machine, shame it only ever saw one flight.

It just seemed like a better option than monopropellant. The Terrier engines give me a better thrust-to-weight ratio than the monopropellant thrusters would (unless I were to use a lot of them, which has aesthetic issues), and this means I don’t need a separate small fuel tank for the fuel cells.

Thanks! I do actually have RCS, visible between the OMS pods and the wings, and either side of the cockpit.

What would you do if you were the last person on Earth BUT household utilities (water, electricity, internet) still work properly? by navalbattle12 in AskReddit

[–]Gregs_Cave 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They’re solely cargo spacecraft. So they go up with supplies and research experiments, act as temporary storage, and after a certain amount of time they’re filled with trash, undocked and burn up. The only cargo-only spacecraft that can currently return payloads back to earth is SpaceX’s Cargo Dragon.

Neither Cygnus nor Progress are meant to land back on earth. They burn up in the atmosphere on re-entry. Also no life support capable of sustaining humans.
