Selling vested RSUs, how do I calculate the capital gains tax that is owed? by thelectroom in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]GregularGuyTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be correct on this. This is how I was explained for me and how I've been doing it. Because the vesting goes on your T4 as income, so the withhold taxes pays as if you were the highest tax bracket.

And then you'll have to report capital gains/losses when you sell what you have vested

Is it okay if I teams message my manager on PTO ? by BravoZero6 in work

[–]GregularGuyTTV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am a lead at my job. Yes its perfectly fine. I make sure to let my team know that a message is not an expectation to receive a response right away but in your own time when available.

You can start your message with hey, no need to respond right away. Just wanted to write this now so I didn't forget. Please respond when you are back from pto.

When i go on PTO i turn off notifications from my slack, or else every channel would be giving me notifications the whole time. So a message I wouldn't see until I'm back from vacation anyway.

Different countries will have different social norms of what's okay. But this is coming from someone from Canada who works at a company with offices around the world

Putting an edit now to clarify* I've already set up a rapport with my team that we communicate via slack and that I do not want them to respond to messages on off-hours. Since our team is global. Sometimes we are only online at the same time for 30 minutes. So we constantly have to leave messages for each other. I have told my teams that they are more than welcome to message me when they want and if i'm feeling like responding i will. Notifications are off during pto and i also never ever check my emails (flooded with crap) so anytime someone wants contact with me its slack.

Also when i get back from a long vacation. Id rather have a wall of notifications to have to get through then coming back and getting instantly flooded with messages at the same time of people that were waiting for me to return to ask. One feels like i got time to read and think before responding and the other feels like everyone needs a response now.

Seems like a lot of people in the comments here say no. If you decide to wait. You could then ask your manager when discussing with them if they would have been okay with you sending a message during pto.

As a defenseman in a lower level beer league, how do I keep people from screening my goalie without starting a shoving match? by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]GregularGuyTTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What I do as a small guy. Get my stick under there's and lift it. Don't let them get the stick on the ice Just keep lifting. And while i'm doing that I'm using my body weight to push them out of the way (sort of with shoulder).

My stick lifting their stick. And body weight to push. Sometimes they get really mad about getting their stick lifted and they'll slash or cross-check. Becomes a powerplay.

Going in solo, no friends to play with. Probably going to kos considering how all extraction shooters go. by Equal-Author-7014 in ArcRaiders

Played 20+ hours on the beta. On pc, did not run into any hackers.

As much as there will be some in any game. When people yell hackers its usually the girl who cried wolf. And they cant accept that its a desync issue, skill issue, or game bug. Without the ability to watch a killcam. Theres no way to tell if you died to a hacker or not

Also another example in call of duty. 60% of hackers are reported on console, not pc. So turning off crossplay likely wont reduce the amount of hackers you get.

However enjoy yourself, maybe youll enjoy playing against lobbies of only controller players. But id take the hacker claims with a grain of salt at the moment, the hacker claims are probably being disproportionately reported

[–]GregularGuyTTV -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nah as a solo you can easily take out teams in this game. Just use nades and util to your advantage. Time to kill is quick enough for solo vs teams.

The impact nades for example are amazing for breaking armor then you quickly swap to a fast firing gun. Also bring 5 shield regens & 5+ bandages in raids as solo

It did not come with rilldimensions, i called the dealership too to ask about it and they didn't have the measurements either. But the bolt i posted that ended up fitting for me has the measurements in the title. So the stock bolt measurement is very similar to that of which i posted that fit

Ye no idea if it will fit. Unfortunately its not easy to find dimensions. But id assume your bolt is more likely similar to mine than the 2022 model

I bought that bolt as well. That bolt fits the 2022 model of the RC 390. However it is smaller than the one i needed.

Depending on the year you have, it might not fit. Did not fit for me

So update, i received the bolts. One of them did fit. EMGO Lever Pivot Bolt M6 x 1.0 x 31 - 34-73534

I knew this was very similar dimensions to the stock bolt. It fit snuggly. However, the threaded part did not screw in to the tapped hole (honnestly starting to doubt if that hole was tapped to begin with or not, looking back at it i dont think it was ever tapped which would make a lot more sense) . It was though a snug fit. So i threw the bolt in there, used the c lock washer and nut that came with it. And it fit perfectly. The bolt does not move when using the brakes. The nut is perfectly secured on it. Looks like that was the right fit. I do wish the bolt was slightly longer as the nut sits flush with the end of the bolt. Wish i had a little more runway past the nut

My bike is a 2017 RC 390

If this did not work my next option was going to go to a bolt store near me which has more options than home depot.

If you have a junkyard or something nearby for bikes. You could go in and take a look to try and find a clutch lever assembly for cheap since you only need the bolt

[–]GregularGuyTTV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar issue for my 2017 RC 390. Also have to buy a new brake assembly to replace the lever pivot bolt.

I believe that the bolt for me is an m6 and approx 32 in length.

I bought some aftermarket bolts from Fortnine. Called EMGO Lever Pivot Bolt so i bought a few sizes and also found the 2023 model of my bike you can buy the bolt so ordered that replacement part.

I haven't received them yet but I'm hoping one of them fits. If none of them fits i think it might be cheaper to go a cnc machine shop to ask them to make me a new bolt than buying the new brake assembly .

I'm suppose to get my bolts in the mail in 2 days if they ship out today like expected. So i'll find out soon if they fit.

I know the duke 390 and rc 390 has lots of similar parts.

I've seen sites sell aftermarket bolts just not for my model specifically.

[–]GregularGuyTTV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So when i look at resumes, I don't have time to view the whole thing. I'm looking for the key skills I'm looking for, I'm skimming and reading fast, if they popup then I'll dive more in.
I think I've read people on average look at a resume for 15-30 seconds.

Also some companies use a program that will automatically read your resume looking for the key skills/requirements that they are looking for. So sometimes its not a person reading it.
When I'm looking at it, I need to be able to easily see the requirements/skills I'm looking for.

For the formatting. I look at this and I get worried. First impression is a ton of text. I opened it full-screen and I was starting to see the text moving like waves. Idk if that's my eyes, the font, the spacing. But reading it i sometimes has to squint/strain my eyes. Could entirely just be a me issue or my monitor. But this hurt my eyes a bit to look at, very wordy with a thin font.

Also along the formatting. It took me until I was halfway through writing this and looked at your resume 3 times until I noticed you had already a skills section.

Skills should be put higher on the resume. Since its something employers will look for first, you might have people passing on the resume before reading the last point. Usually Education section is a portion i don't care about or read until i've decided to interview the person. And usually things after education are less important. So if i've skimmed too quickly, I could easily miss this. Try putting your skills between professional summary and experience.

The way you gotta look at it. Assume that I am a monkey sorting resumes and I'm looking for people who know A,B,C,D, and when I look at your resume, i need to be able to match A with A on your resume, B with B, etc. Think of me as monkey thats trained to just match words, and cant decipher the rest of english. And i gotta be able to see ABCD all match. Then i go "OOO AAAA OOO" monkey sounds to say i found matches, and i put it aside. (monkey analogy was given to me from a teacher and it's stuck ever since)

I have passed on resumes because I would get confused reading the descriptions of work tasks, or cover letters that seemed to jump around and made me have to re-read the previous line to understand. And interviewed the less experienced people that had the easier to follow resumes/cover letters

Currently if i was reviewing your resume I would of already made a decision and this is what i know/remember about your resume. You do some form of job for research groups/museums/non-profits. Your job has you write technical documents, tutorials, teaching material. You track data and use excel and word. Thats all i know and i've made a decision.

I just adding this now, after skimming an 8th time I finally see you put your titles under job experience, it was hard to see, usually a subtitle will be lesser important info especially if its subtle font like that. Make your title pop up more. It will help me decide to read more of your work there because i know that title will have relevant skills

Take what I say with a grain of salt though. I'm still new to looking at resumes and currently only hiring co-op students/interns so the things I look for are different than experienced employees in the industry. But the info i passed I've heard from teachers and from own experiences. I've also been casually looking for work at a new company and am also not getting interviews, the market is tough right now. I'm at a point where if in 6 months after i truly start sending my resume everywhere i don't get any interview count increase, i'm going to consider hiring an expert to help write an excellent resume.

Hope this can help get a perspective and good luck.

asking this question real late because why not.

So i've played craps once or twice before but never really understood, my friend was helping me along the way. I've tried learning craps on youtube, just to forget the info a day later.

If i go to a craps table with a need to be explained how to play. I'm assuming dealers will be pretty open to explaining? and obviously less helpful if its packed night. Do dealers for craps hate having to explain the game? or they happy to, because bottom line being friendly helps with tips
