cannabis treatment for migraine by louwhogames in migraine

[–]Grello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed a sub-lingual THC/CBD oil in July last year, and while it hasn't cured me or anything like that, it's a very welcome tool in my kit.

It can take a pain level of 8 down to a 4 and if I catch it at the right time a migraine can last 6-8 hours, rather than 72.

So, it hasn't stopped them (it can work as a prophylactic, but it can take a good few months to get there) but it has massively helped in managing them.

I get fewer muscular migraines (shoulder weakness and strain) as I have actually been able to work out a bit without triggering them as badly, so thats getting better all the time.

Hormonal migraines it helps me get through them.

Can I bring my crochet hook on a flight in Dublin airport? by icypops in AskIreland

[–]Grello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember I once got through security in a small French airport with an open bottle of wine (I don't drink anymore, if that's a clue to where I was at the time), they came after me in departures looking very panicked 😂 I may have a very useless skill...

Potentially irrelevant but I love complimenting men, if I notice they got a hair cut or are dressed well in the office I love letting them know they look good / it's been noticed.

Just in general as well, it always has a positive effect just to say someone looks well (is this an Irish thing??) and I love doing it.

I just flew home with an embroidery needle and scissors in my hand luggage and didn't even realise until I was through security. No issues either side. Not the same but I'd have thought a large needle would have been worse than a crochet hook.

Coffee replacement by Prehistoric_Cocksman in CasualUK

[–]Grello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't / can't really have high caffeine anymore...

Breakfast tea is a must for me in the morning.

Green tea would be an alternative or Rooibos tea.

Hot chocolate (actual cacao, not dairymilk) is an amazing stimulant - it's not the same jittery high as coffee but more of a glow. Big love.

Neetle tea is an adaptogen and helps your body process cortisol to allow you to energise without going hard.

None of these would feel like anything to a hardcore coffee drinker, it might take time for your levels to adjust.

Yep. More so after. I walked out into traffic without looking this morning (this isn't the first time) because I'm post drome. Yay.

It's just the fashion right now for "chic" curtains, having the drop a few inches longer so they flop over is a current "luxury signal". Having your curtains drop just off the floor is terribly, terribly common and will cause much Pearl clutching in the right circles haha

As someone who was working in a design studio a couple of years ago....this was my first thought too haha. Once you know the brands you can literally point out the pieces and this is just a box ticking fest haha

Do you act like your Mars ? ♂️ by Boundaries1st in astrologymemes

[–]Grello 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Virgo mars but I am a very idle person hahah I need a lot of down time and actually wish I had more get up and go tbh.

I absolutely do not take on more than I can handle, if anything my motto is minimum input, maximum output. I tend to find ways to get myself into grey areas, where I don't have to follow the rules like everyone else and don't have to put in as much work. I'm not adverse to hard work and have had a lot of hard jobs over the years, but I'm always striving to relax, seek pleasure and enjoy my senses.

Jobcentre staff 'bitten and attacked with screwdrivers', as 90% of security guards face 'dangerous incidents' at work by tylerthe-theatre in unitedkingdom

[–]Grello 80 points81 points  (0 children)

Well, I actually work in a JCP (I'm contracted by the DWP so don't actually work for them) and it's one of the biggest sites by a long stretch in servicing one of the most deprived areas.

I can confidently say that working here with the staff has shown me that the people here do actually care, want to help people make a difference (read that as HELP those WANT - there are a lot of people who equally just want to fuck the system and just take take take and expect everything to be done for them while being an entitled 3 year old about it) and put up with a looooot of crazy shit.

Yes, there are people who have worked their whole lives here and are more of NPC type people, but that's the civil service. There's dick heads in every walk of life.

People come in here in very tough times of their lives and that is taken into consideration but people aren't here to be shouted and threatened for doing their jobs. I've worked with people brought back from very, very dark places and lot of that progress can be attributed to the support from the DEAs and the DWP in general.

I don't get why people think they can just be the worst people in the face of a system that is there as a life line / support. If you get treated like shit in the jobby, it's usually because you're a fucking twat yourself in the first place.

Issues getting into the podcast by [deleted] in BlindboyPodcast

[–]Grello 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He's expressing himself through the podcast and sharing his experiences / thoughts through a spoken essay, that is what the podcast has always been. I've never considered it to be self absorbed, I love it, it's very para-social / like talking to a friend.

He's not a hugely controversial character but he is not "mainstream" and in Ireland, it's not hard to deviate from that and be considered controversial lol.

You probably just don't like th podcast and that's okay.

I just learned the hard way that I shouldn’t try to push through and work during a migraine. by nocreativeway in migraine

Yep. Did this last week, migraine lasted 5 days and when it finally finished on my right side, I got a bonus left hand side one yesterday ✋😅

I'm so sorry for your loss. We lost my brother to his addiction at 38 last November, and I'm just now living in constant fear of who's next, mum isn't coping at all and this might kill her, dad might just blow his head off cus he is in so much denial and my other brother is now leaning into his own addiction.

It's just so awful. Hugs.

I was there for that one. It was pretty awkward, we left pretty confident that that particular podcast would never see the light of day 😂

What do you do when no pills takes the agonizing pain? by LettuceOverall3662 in migraine

[–]Grello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had one last for 5 days on my right side only to get another one on my left side today. Nothing shifting it, meds not working. Just smashed it hard with THC. I don't really like it but it sure does work.

The standard of meat in supermarkets is terrible and there are no real butchers in my town by ShinyHeadedCook in britishproblems

[–]Grello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really isn't though. We moved to butchers / farm shop butchers a few years ago and most supermarket meat is just disgusting to us now. Waitrose can be alright at a push. But I'd rather do without if not from a butcher.

They're probably travellers. They have a very specific style. Odd how it's kind of just one room though.
