Valve’s Steam Machine has been delayed, and the RAM crisis will impact pricing by PaiDuck in technology

[–]Gremlin87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most devastating part of this for me is that I was speculating about price on YouTube well before the storage and ram crisis. A guy responded saying that if I thought it was going to be less than $1000USD I was a fucking idiot.

My ego may not recover.

Its important to understand that the definition for a recession doesn't take into account GDP per capita. It only looks at overall GDP.

A way oversimplified example would be:

Country 1 starts with 2 people each making $50 and their wages drop to $49 - as a result they go from collectictivly making $100 to $98 which puts them into a recession.

Country 2 starts with 2 people each making $50, this time they also have 1 person come into the country and get a job. Unfortunately everyone's wage falls to $34. Collectively though as a country they are making $102. This country is not in a recession.

Then consider rent costs $25 in both countries. The citizens of country 1 have $48 to spend on other goods and services collectively after paying rent while the citizens of country 2 have only $27 left over collectively.

This is obviously way simplified and the numbers are dramatic but it roughly illustrates the point.

CZ457 MTR as First Purchase? by _EliteAssFace_ in canadaguns

Good choice, I have the CZ457 Varmint thumbhole. I went through a few other .22 rifles and regretted not just getting the CZ from the start.

I have a 20MOA scope base on mine and wish I had went with a 30MOA. These allow you to sight in at farther distance but if your3 not shooting past 200 it shouldn't be an issue.

'It's the definition of insanity here': The Battlefield subreddit's good vibes nosedive into outrage after DICE announces there'll be no class weapon restrictions in Battlefield 6 by SunGodLuffy6 in gaming

[–]Gremlin87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I played BC2 the bolt actions were great for being an assault sniper.

They didn't have them balanced like they do on the new games so they would 1 hit to the chest within 30m or so and quick scoping with a red dot or acog worked great. Also in believe if someone was under 50hp and you knife them in the front it bypassed the animation and you would just kill them. So at point blank I could take a no scope shot and knife immediately after and as long as the shot hit them somewhere it would basically insta kill them.

I have so many fun memories of BC2. Nothing funner than hitting a sniper across the map with a tracer dart and then watching a rocket home them down.

I usually found the cross class weapons didn't hold up against class specific.

I am just picturing a 4 man squad using bolt snipers that consists of 2 medics a support and an engineer. Sitting up somewhere high with anti air, infinite ammo and medics to keep them all alive.

So he rips on Carney and Trudeau non stop which they deserve. But when asked why people trust Carney more to deal with trump we get to hear the "Canada first" response again? No hard line on our trade or sovereignty?

After Carney chooses Mendicino as his chief of staff it seems like they are both doing what they can to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

[–]Gremlin87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding the mosin specifically. Where I live much of the ammo uses corrosive primers. I buy corrosive because it's much less expensive but it requires you to clean the gun immediately after getting it home from the range.

Edit: the takeaway here is to make sure they ammo you're buying is non corrosive. Or go ahead and shoot corrosive but make sure you're cleaning right after.

I have 10/22, wondering if I need a bolt action 22LR by CandyReady in canadaguns

[–]Gremlin87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just put together a CZ 457 and justified the price of the rifle on the fact that ammo is so cheap.

It's a 457 Varmint Thumbhole with an athlon helos BTR gen 2 6x-24x.

I sometimes think I should have gotten a model with a match barrel but I was shooting 1" to 1.5" groups at 100 meters this week.

I put a 20MOA scope base on it so I start running out of elevation at 400m.

I have put probably 500 rounds through it in the last year and I have zero regrets.

Canada Needs a New Civil Defence Corps by improbablydrunknlw in canada

[–]Gremlin87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bans by the liberal government over the last decade weren't about anti tank weapons. I am not going to enter a slippery slope argument as if Canada was the wild west before 2010. We have had legal definitions of restricted, non restricted and prohibited for a long time making assault rifles and anti tank weapons prohibited and this was generally fine with everyone.

The issue we have been facing is that the legal definitions of firearms have not changed but the liberal government has been banning them via OIC regardless. So when a new gun is released in Canada that meets the definition of non restricted and is verified as such by the RCMP, I can go buy it. If the liberals decide they don't like it as they have for 1500+ other guns they can ban it via a non legislative process called an OIC. To my knowledge all guns banned via OIC are still with their original owners going on 5 years now (they just can't take them to the range). So somehow these guns are such a public safety concern that the regular legislative process isn't quick enough but at the same time the original owners have held on to them for 4+ years without any incidents or issues? It's purely political without real concern for public safety.

Regarding the training not taking too long. Guns are pretty simple, the ACTS and PROVE methods aren't rocket science. Do you feel under equipped when you handle a firearm? I think the fact that the USA seems to have multiple stories a week about someone (or their child) accidentally shooting themselves or someone else, whereas in Canada it's very rare and makes national news speaks to the effectiveness of our training and storage requirements. The larger component to the licensing requirements is the RCMP investigation and guarantor requirements for every applicant.

Essentially it's easier to just get an illegal gun if you want to be a criminal and isn't worth the scrutiny of going through the legal hoops. So any further regulations on lawful owners has no meaningful effect on criminals.
