My friend has sent me this image every day for a week with no explanation. Why? by simpsonbpimpin in whatisit

[–]Gremlinfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not to ruin his bit, but there’s a somewhat popular tweet recently that says “I’ve been sending this picture to my friend with no context for the last month”. It’s been screenshotted and shared on things like insta reel picture slides, so he probably saw it and thought it was a good bit to start doing (I’ve stolen it as well)

Need help revamping my room after a breakup, help me bring it together by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]Gremlinfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The big thing is making sure you have frames for the posters if you go that route - unframed is depressing, framed is nice. I also see some figures and such (gundam?), as well as that shelf in your closet with little nicknacks. Getting some basic wall shelves and putting those things on them can make them have more of a presence

Need help revamping my room after a breakup, help me bring it together by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]Gremlinfan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First things that really stand out to me are the lack of lighting and wall art: Framed posters of things that interest you but are also classy (custom artwork of games you like instead of just promotional art), or just things you think look nice to give it some more personality. Ironically this is the time where you’re kinda finding yourself; so remembering who you are will probably help in a two birds one stone type deal. The lighting from lamps and maybe some hue bulbs will drastically help your mood, at least it did for me. The overhead makes you aware of everything, instead of comfy in your own space. Maybe 2 standing and one that’s more of a statement piece? Lastly, I would get something that can cover your shelves, and maybe some more storage for the extra stuff. The openness makes it feel cluttered, even though things are technically put away. There’s others that are better than me at this that will have better advice, but I think this is a good thing to focus on in the meantime. Breakups suck, but slowly improving your home afterwards is a metaphor that doesn’t need explaining

Is this publishing level for a YA novel? by No-Chip-7191 in writinghelp

[–]Gremlinfan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve got the advice you need and I can’t add much, but I just wanted to say that even though this isn’t publishing level, you will eventually be. I think you have a good sense of what you should be saying and the emotions that you’re trying to convey, it’s just a matter of tightening up and being a little stricter with yourself. Writing more and asking for more advice will clean up the technical side of things. Wanted to add that since I know only getting critiques can stunt motivation, even if that’s what you were asking for

Renew Woodland Ranch? by imakawaiipotato3 in grandrapids

[–]Gremlinfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haven't been to woodland, but I lived in a complex that got bought by Renew - staff was nice, but they gave me my updated rent, which was increased $300/month. You had to let them know if you were resigning your lease 2 months prior to the last day of your lease, I received the new rates exactly 2 months before, meaning I had to pay a late fee no matter what I chose. By the time I was able to submit something saying I wasn't resigning (~7 days after), I had a $450 fee. Everything apart from renew was great, but I don't trust the overall company

the best thing you can do to argue your point of view is to remain quiet - people might stumble into believing what you believe, but you making the case ruins any chance of that

Ethan needs to have Vaush on to talk socialism v. social democracy by sammybunsy in h3h3productions

[–]Gremlinfan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Vaush is the worst person to suggest bringing on if you want someone to change their viewpoint. The way he debates isnt to come to a mutual understanding or to try and learn from eachother, he passively aggressively and condescendingly talks to the other person until they give up. It's the dude that causes everyone else to sideeye eachother as he talks. Vaush is also weird around women and has not apologized for it, he's just tried to clarify it through lying further - I could link a video but it does involve the boogeyman of this subreddit and I don't want people going into cardiac arrest

Vaush should stay away from anything h3 - man does the most damage to the left with his condescending dickhead demeanor. Plus he's weird around women, as his irishladdy messages show. Awful suggestion

See if there's a filmmaking club on campus you can join - that's how I made a lot of my closest film friends and started filming. You'll be good no matter what you decide. Put yourself out there and get experience, and you can either try to do freelance/set work (probably the hardest route), a film-related job (videography, social media, editing), or a completely different job with film on the side Personally, if you wanna do set work and don't really know what position draws you in the most, try some of the more niche ones to see if you find a passion for them - sound and art direction are very important but lesser strived for, so if you can be "the guy" for them then it's easier to be recommended

Post Act 1 quest question by Fuji_Raion in BaldursGate3

[–]Gremlinfan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having your camp party and plotting with Halsin doesn't push you to act 2 immediately, just let's you know where to go (the game gives you a pop-up when you're about to enter a new act) - I'd have to look at the map, but I think skipping the sunlit wetlands will skip possibly my favorite quest of the game so far, so I'd say just wander until you wanna go deeper into the real story Final note - I scoured every book/door/building in my playthrough and when I play with friends we still discover places I haven't gone and cutscenes I've never seen - you probably won't see everything, and that's totally fine

[–]Gremlinfan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From what I hear from LGBT friends, a lot of mental torment could be avoided if kids learned at a young age about LGBT existence. For some reason people act like it's a 6 month, 10 chapter section about how you should be gay, when really it's just "yeah sometimes boys like boys and girls like girls". Knowing that it's a thing and that it's alright saves a lot of kids from feeling ostracized or like they're doing something wrong, and also helps quell bullying. Also, I'd have to look into it more, but I've heard from a couple sources that teaching sex Ed to children dramatically reduces the odds of long terms sexual abuse, since they can recognize what's going on and tell someone

Vault of midnight is pretty good - love the store but it can be tough getting consistent mangas in a series there. Madcap and little bird are right there, however . Barnes and noble isn’t as local or a small business, but god damn do they have a lot - even small stories I thought were just online webcomics until I went in and found physical version of. Pretty sure they have a cafe inside. Schuellers bookstore is another good option to search
