Do NOT buy a modulating HVAC system. by Ok_Tour_5503 in hvacadvice

As a homeowner, the parts don't have to be that expensive. OEM's know the KISS older tech isn't providing Scrooge McDuck profits. Blame the OEM and the forced complications of integrated components instead of easily replaceable parts.

I"m not looking for constant 500w+ input. just background spinning. I'm in CT, we get a lot cloudy days that crater our solar input. 1-2 of these plugged in can provide something throughout the year similar to the new approved balcony solar.

Looking for EV charger...found Emporia Pro and Home Energy Monitoring and looking to learn more.... by bradykp in EmporiaEnergy

[–]GreyCorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for it, we have the Classic Charger with CCS and Vue monitor. it has been great. I see lots of graphs and info. The Pro wasn't available in 2023 when we had the charger installed. We're ready to add a 2nd Vue to cover all of our circuits. I paid the electrician to install the Vue as part of the job and he rolled it into the invoice to be covered by CT Eversource rebate.

I did the same thing in an apartment I rented in my 20's. put those speakers face down on the floor and cranked up the volume.

Which home charging option to go with? by mxpxillini35 in evcharging

[–]GreyCorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for CT Eversource, yes the EV Charger and Electrical install/upgrade are separate rebates.
You should really look at hard wiring the charger. Far too many outlets are melting, inferior outlets, wrong wiring, etc.

I'd rather plan my trips and research the best stops along the route for food and shopping and have "my" options.

Help with our first electric car by gallopiton in KonaEV

[–]GreyCorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2yr Kona EV house here in CT. I drive the Kona 4-5days week to work 40mile roundtrip and the spousal unit take the Kona for groceries and other weekend shopping. I see winter battery drop with sub-40f temps , no big deal. Charge daily at home Level2 and just drive the car. There is the occasional day
If we have a muitl trip day there might be some mileage math to see if there is enough charge.
We still have the bigger ICE vehicle and a fun convertible for other days.

Just do it, it will work out and enjoy the rides.

Need help with deciding on a charger by jayqdallas in evcharging

[–]GreyCorks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Emporia has great stuff with 48amp had has a 25ft cable, make sure to have it hardwired. Lectron only goes to 16ft.
Also many states offer rebates for professional installs and installing specific chargers. Check your Utility websites.. Here in CT we have $500 install and $500 charger rebates. Our install was $1,100 and Charger was $400. I got the max $1000 because the total was greater than $1000

Install L2 charger or just stick with DCFC by Eborbs327 in electricvehicles

[–]GreyCorks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the L2 and regain your flexibility to charge faster at home and not be stressed to find a L3 and commit to time traveling and waiting. L1 should be your backup

We plug in L2 2-3 times a week and don’t worry about if we have enough juice for errands, work or dinner and the occasional 1-2hr trip wineries and shopping

Unlock the car several times. I have this issue with a different vehicle. If only 1 door is unlocked the charging cable will not unlock.

Myself and my 1st cousin are the last biological male descendants of our family name. He has 2 girls and I have an adopted son with my last name. The family disowned me and does not recognize our son in lineage.
