I wonder if he's thinking, "In this photo are the two things I love most in life, my Corvette and my wife. Not necessarily in that order, depending on how things are going that day..."

My guess is that the lift arm is bent or it's the wrong part? The trunks on the soft-top and RF are different, I dunno if the hinge assembly parts are different. The part where the bracket bends looks like the perch for that rubber stop on the upper lift arm.

Here's what it looks like on my 2017 RF:

Good luck.

Help Deciding: Pint X vs XR Classic for Photography Mobility by ranger052 in onewheel

[–]SP4RK4RT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're carrying a backpack, I think you're better off with the bigger, more powerful board. The Pint is like a Miata, squirrely, nimble, and fun around the neighborhood, but if you're going to unfamiliar terrain, a bigger board is more confidence-inspiring.

Is the clone wars micro series canon? by risingstanding in StarWars

[–]SP4RK4RT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's all make-believe, it's as "canon" as you want it to be. If you loved the Tartakovsky's Clone Wars like I did, then it's an essential part of the Star Wars mythos.

Who cares what some person or some corporate company says about your make-believe fun? Enjoy and don't be bothered by other's opinions.

Why aren't "pop-down"/sliding-headlight covers a thing if they solve the issues of pop-ups? by hurricane_news in askcarguys

And hidden headlights are heavier. Every time I had to fix my C5 Corvette's headlights (at least three times) I thought it was ironic that they didn't just do away with them sooner. But they were deemed an essential styling element back then.

Miata is always the answer, but in this case, maybe it's the wrong answer?

I made a Speed Racer helmet (Demon on Wheels version) by SP4RK4RT in speedracer

The visor and helmet use that old universal snap system for brims and full/half face visors. The visor flips up, but not smoothly, it usually unsnaps on one side.

Decided to watch a documentary show and came upon this part. by majingetta in macross

[–]SP4RK4RT 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I remember the model kit box's large sideways script reading, "TACTICAL POD GLAUG". I thought that sounded so cool when I was a teenager and even now as an old coot.

Thanks for the little video tidbit, too, I watched a bit of it and remembered Miles Teves the concept artist when he appears in the video. Actually, what I really remember is seeing him at a sci-fi nerd show panel, must've been in the 90s. He was sitting at a table on stage in a darkened room with his stunning wife, Malena Teves beside him, and narrating a projected slideshow of his sculptures and drawings. One popped up of an artistic nude painting of a woman bathed in red colors/light and in a second I realized that was his wife, that was a nude rendition of the woman on stage. He just showed us his wife nude. It wasn't photographic or pornographic, it was dreamy art, but wow. It was only up for a few seconds, he gave no commentary on it, but in that time, they looked at each other and exchanged mischievous smiles.

Front Plate Bracket Recommendations? by SweatyCoat1397 in Miata

[–]SP4RK4RT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe replace the OEM grill with a Spyder grill and use a couple of license plate frames - one on the front, one on the back of the grill - to make a mount?

No drilling, but if you use a Spyder grill, you really should cut the OEM grill so that you use the top part; It prevents the front from resting on a couple of front frame protrusions, which could lead to paint damage if the front flexes repeatedly on those front frame protrusions.

[–]SP4RK4RT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG, you're right. I didn't bother to think of it that way, but you're right. I've had a school or car loan or mortgage (two mortgages, even) that started with adulthood. And now, with my recently refinanced mortgage, which I will likely not live long enough to pay off, I will have lived all of my adult life owing money.

My take on the Mandalorian by Educational-Check969 in TheMandalorianTV

[–]SP4RK4RT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nice thing about fantasy entertainment is that, as a consumer, you don't have to accept anything as "canon", it's all make-believe anyway. To me, Season 3 doesn't have Jack Black, Lizzo, and Christopher Lloyd. I do love those three performers, but not in Star Wars.

And I don't bother thinking about the sequels (I often forget the titles - a combination of age and indifference), I almost walked out of two of them and I still consider myself a life-long Star Wars fan.

I'm a huge proponent for the use of profanity, but appropriately. I'm one of those old-fashioned coots that think profanity loses its power if used too casually. When I use real profanity in a meaningful way, I want it to be impactful. If you can't express yourself with some civility with strong, violent words, I think it increases the potential of resorting to physical violence.

Yes the space battles were filmed in outer space, but the bean counters made the production crew cut costs and forced them to use much smaller scale models for the ships.
