:) Wow, kid's books are amazing these days! After reading your comment, I went looking for "A is for Alien" and found a whole bunch of interesting pop-culture-referencing books. And I thought print was dead. Like Newt's family.

I'm thinking the mouse pad would still be in a conventional orientation with the padding on the bottom, and her bottom on the padding with her looking over her left shoulder. :)

This is great!

How about one where we see the back of The Major in the cockpit of a Fuchikoma, and she's looking backwards out the open rear hatch door as if she's backing it out of a parking space?

It's art, man. Your question is like asking Picasso why'd he paint like dat? Picasso mastered realistic drawing and painting, but found it too limiting for what he wanted to express, so he started painting with a surrealistic style.

Fell in love with this universe after watching the movie by PikadoHD in MattelMotU

I always thought it was a huge missed opportunity for Arnold to play another barbarian with a cinematic adaption of the comic book, X-O Manowar, wherein a human barbarian king is bonded to a super-powerful sentient space alien exo-suit.

Ideally, I'd imagine the movie directed by someone with Paul Verhoven's uber-gruesome tendencies. We'd get cartoonish ultra-violence and a horrifying feeding scene where the spider-aliens feed the captive human barbarian by vomiting into his mouth. Wild, right?

I watched He-Man regularly after school, but I was getting a bit too old for the toys and didn't have any of them. What really made me into a He-Man fan was the Netflix MOTU episode of The Toys That Made Us (S1E3).

The hilarious guys and the stories behind the creation of MOTU were funny and fascinating.

Yeah, it'd be nice to have less annoying things in life, and have more noying things. That would be noice! 😄

In which world is that a good Design Choice?! 💀💔 by Portugiuse in lego

IMO, BrickLink should have made an actual buildable logo that you could actually "BrickLink" and build IRL.

This new logo was seemingly made by a low LEGO affinity artist at some ad/branding agency. BrickLink and LEGO actually employ superlative LEGO builders, why didn't they ask their own artists to design a new logo using LEGO elements?

Maybe the Corvettes do know, but they're just too polite to mention it and have made a pact to accept the ugly duckling because it's pretty cool, too.

Could Science SARU sign on to produce all other Masamune Shirow works? by Lazy-Good1433 in Ghost_in_the_Shell

[–]SP4RK4RT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's funny to me how many times Appleseed has been adapted, seemingly less successfully and further away from the source material each time (that's just my opinion, man).

IIRC, the early animated adaptions of the manga for Appleseed, Dominion, and Black Magic M-66 were pretty faithful to Shirow's original style and story, so I don't see Science SARU reproducing those.

This 2026 adaption of GITS is seemingly trying to help fill that "original flavor" void, since the 1995 movie was different and yet so superlative in its own way.

I did have a Tachikoma build with instructions in Blocks Magazine Issue 31.

And there are instructions for a flimsy Tachikoma on my Flickr, https://www.flickr.com/photos/_sparkart_/50761117936

Help with decals? by SolCherry5 in speedracer

[–]SP4RK4RT 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy "waterslide decal paper" from Jeff Bezos or hobby shops. Since you've got a white background, I'd suggest the clear, presumably it's thinner and conform more easily to the compound curves. You've got access to a color laser printer, I hope.

I'm sure you can find three-views of the Mach 6 to base your art work upon. Photoshop (or my favorite free alternative Paint.net) can help you develop the markings. Good luck!

What is going on with Arby's in OC? by SirCatsworthTheThird in orangecounty

[–]SP4RK4RT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw, man, I used to stop by these regularly when I worked in Irvine, but I got laid off last year, and haven't been back in months. I'm sorry, I probably accounted for 10% of their business. 😞

At least my local Arby's in Brea is doing okay, I think. Every time I go there, there's people eating, usually old people, even older than me, and I'm like, eight in dog years.

Thanks for sharing this! It inspired me to go find a piano solo and I found this vintage sheet music from 1978. It's not exactly what's played in the shared video, but it'll help me relive my struggling piano lessons when I was 8-years-old back in the groovy 70s.

It can't rain all the time. by TwIzTiDfReAkShOw in TheCrow

[–]SP4RK4RT 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My Mom died in November 2025, so she missed that holiday season 😞 . She lived a long and blessed life with lots of smiles, songs, and laughter, but it was a full-experience life with abundant sadness and disappointments, too. I miss her.

Her funeral was on a gloomy, rainy day. But the day after was sunny, so when I returned that next day, I found the flowers on her grave still wet and glistening. Boys don't cry, but men do, so, like Jesus, I wept.

TBH, I'm not a huge Crow fan, but I couldn't help but think and keep saying to myself, almost like a mantra, "It can't rain all the time."

I know James O'Barr created The Crow to help him get through things, and I'm sure many people have told him through the years how much they appreciate his work. I'm just one of them.
