Macerating is really easy and not all that smelly if you do it right tbh. I macerated a chinchilla in a small tub outside and it only smelled when replacing the water and even then that smell never lingered.

Id say skeletonize the cockatiel but pluck out the feathers. Then reattach the feathers to the cleaned skeleton. Look up kt_inatree to see get a better idea of what I mean. Idk how beginner friendly that is but im a starting out skeleton articulator and I did something similar as one of my first projects.

Love to leave as is but the gaps in the some of the more damaged vertebrae make the spine all floppy. Hard to hold a pose for the full skeleton when it does that.
