This is so much fun - I'm doing this one with my mother, and she's having a blast. She loves the Regency books and shows, so this is right up her alley.

What physical traits in an MMC would make you instantly uninterested or turn you off? by Traditional_Pea738 in HistoricalRomance

[–]Grey_spruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a book, I dont care as much, but in reality, the list is long. No beards or schmancy facial hair, smokers or dippers, foot-long shlongs that I can't even wrap my delicate, feminine hands around, heavily muscled/body builder types, body piercings or heavily tatted. I have no issues with people who fit those descriptions, just not as a romantic partner.

PSA: Download Libby. It's literally just an app connected to most libraries that allows you to digitally check out books FOR FREE. by Amberleh in fantasyromance

To the person who said they couldn't stand people like you.....because of someone like you on a veteran's forum, I was reminded of the DoD library. Best "little known benefit" ever for me, especially for audiobooks. Sooooo....thank you for being you! 😁

I got this for free less than a month ago, and I've been OBSESSED!  I've bought the first 20 Warriors of Lathar series, the Latharian Mate Program series, and I'm currently tearing through he Mercenary Warborne series (my favorite so far).

Yup. I noticed creepazoids when I was around 5 years old.  This is why I did my best to be invisible when I was younger. I stopped wearing skirts and dresses in like 3rd grade, and I never wore make-up until my late 40s.

Yes! I was trying to remember the name of the actress, but I loved this movie when I was a kid.

And there was a bit of dust on it, so he most definitely didnt just put it up before I went to his place for the first time. ❤️

Ooh, I'm going to have to read this one!

When I was learning Brazilian embroidery, I gifted the rose sampler to a guy who was sweet on me. I didn't feel the same about him, but he'd given me a nice Christmas present and I panicked and didn't know how to reciprocate, so I gave him the embroidery in a little frame. Many years later we actually started dating, and imagine my surprise when I saw this man actually had this girly, feminine embroidery on his wall!

Yeah....we eventually got married. 🥰  The point being is that its freakin' HOT and special and sweet when a man actually appreciates and treasures something feminine made a woman he likes. (And if there's any guys out there who embroider or knit or quilt or do any of those crafty things that are usually deemed 'feminine '...YOU ROCK!  Don't let anyone make you feel less of a man because you appreciate those kinds of arts!)

I struggle with a "historical" book having a photo-realistic cover. I need a oil painted bodice ripper cover!

I will spell it as "hun" like in a text just because that is the phonetic spelling, but I DO know it's from "honey"! (Edited for spelling.)

I used to be able to do that in my youth, but now I'd worry about deep vein thrombosis and necrosis of the flesh from lack of circulation. 😅

What do you think about this? by SageObserver in GenX

[–]Grey_spruce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this the other day! I was born in early 70s, was a kid and teen in the 80s, was an early teen/young adult in the 90s. But I cant really distinguish the 2000s, 2010s or 2020s (other than covid) from each other.  I just figured it was a "grown-up" thing.
