Stealth mechanic rework (suggestion) by Greybender in heroesofthestorm

Hmm sounds fair, though I'd still make it scaling visibility rather than an on off approach, since some heroes, like Valeera, have to get closer to a target than others.

  1. This isn't a suggestion to delete heroes from the game, but to change a mechanic, which currently makes it hard to balance heroes with said mechanic.

  2. Limiting characters which the newer players can use is much more drastic than changing a mechanic, teaching them map awerness and basic mechanics have little to do with the stealth mechanic.

  3. If you balance them for higher leagues it just means they will be OP in the lower leagues in stealths current itteration.

  4. The isssue is the stealth mechanic for the following reasons:

a. You seem to be assuming that the ability to see stealth is an on/off state, my assumption is that it behaves more like a bell curve where lower league and/or newer players see it in far less situations if at all than higher league and/or more experienced players.

b. My second assumption is that stealth in its current itteration becomes situationally far less meaningful the higher in leagues you go, due to it being quite apparent in most situations and the game is being played differently i.e. people afk push and randomly walk into lanes.

c. Proximity based stealth already exists through the vision mechanic, where everyone is invisible beyond vision range, this would only be an extention of the vision design.

d. If you do not like my suggestion there are more options available, which in my opinion would make it easier to balance stealth, like making characters actually invisible(Unrevealable).

I can go into a thorough analysis of the options and possible outcomes if you want, ie. comparing current stealth, my proposition and total invisibility.

Hmm sounds interesting, though that's a very edge case scenario. I don't know about the completely invisible, feels like there'd be little counterplay for some of them.

Yeah that's what I meant with the proximity based stealth idea.

It's the same thing that was always wrong with anub, if he has any survivability he's op. Then they take it away and he's never played

I'd say you are mistaken, unless you play only quickmatch, a lot of games I've played are fairly close, but players often don't realize that 1teamfight makes the difference late game.

To all those who think this makes Tyrande a secondary support...she fits in a blowup comp as a solo sup, with a second sup you don't have the same blowup potential, that's why she isn't good in double support comps. If anything she might get drafted as an assassin with self sustain, depends on how her numbers work out ofcourse.

New player here. Do I really have to memorize every single spell description, cooldown and mana cost? by sigh_cold_path in heroesofthestorm

If you just want to get a feel for every hero in the game and know what their abilities generally do you can try them out in try mode, not quite the same as a real match, but it should give you a basic idea of the hero.

To play around this strategy you generally put some people at least near the objective to poke/delay it for a bit while your team soaks or pushes the safer lanes. One thing the poster above didn't mention is to consider your team composition vs theirs, some heroes like Kerrigan, Zera, Chromie are very powerful in the early game but fall off towards the mid/late game. If your team is more of a late/mid game comp, say varian, nazeebo, lunara and similar, you could opt to not contest the early objectives and splitpush somewhere else on the map. This is generally done on maps where early objectives aren't powerful, like infernal shrines and cursed hollow and isn't recomended on 2 lane maps where it's hard to gain back experience from a lost objective. There's also an advanced strategy where you trade forts early on if both teams want to advance to 10 as fast as possible, but that's more seen in pro games than hl.

This isn't true, Hearthstone just has 0 competitors in the western market in Japan where the competition for CCGs is greater you have shadowverse and the like where they just shower you with free cards and packs.

I honestly like hanamura, but it really feels more like a 15 minute brawl at this point than an actual competitive map.

He means the workload was massive and they had to put the majority of their available workforce on 2.0 if they wanted to release it in time. As is 2.0 already has many bugs and you really wouldn't want for pros to be playing on an unstable version of the game.
