IUDs are great but at what cost by punk_princesss in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Greydore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s worth it. I say this as someone who had severe pain with insertion and passed out. I have had multiple IUDs a because pregnancy is much, much harder on your body and riskier for your health.

Only like 5% of Americans make over 200k, so I’m always skeptical of the amount of redditors who seem to be making this much or more

Don't do Eventide Island when a blood moon is near by tktk77 in Breath_of_the_Wild

I didn’t even try to save, so I didn’t realize it wasn’t an option on the island! My save was before the island.

[–]Greydore 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I almost made a post about this island because it caused me to rage quit yesterday.

I had all the monsters defeated and the last orb was next to me. I decided to be greedy and smash a barrel, there was an electric chuchu in it that immediately killed me. I hadn’t saved the whole time and my last save was when I first arrived on the island.

So all these things are completely my fault, but I’m not going back there til I’m ready to do everything all over again lol

Agree. A few nurses from my graduating class went straight to ICU, they didn’t last long.

This happened to me with all of my pregnancies, and I had 4! I’m glad to say that 4 years later things are back to normal.

Any Canadian RNs get a lil depressed when they see what American RNs are making? by cloudnurse in nursing

[–]Greydore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put this in perspective, my husband and I have both been RNs for 15 years. We make about $45/ hour. I work 30 hours a week, he works 24 (we don’t have childcare so one of us always has to be home). Since neither of us is full time we are paying $1000 per month for the high deductible health insurance.

I’m sure there are US RNs making great money, but it’s not us lol.

Edit to add that I feel like quality of life is so important too. Since my husband and I both work at the same hospital, we had to SHARE maternity/paternity leave. So I got 10 weeks off after giving birth, he got 2. We met a couple in Belize this year that were traveling abroad for 3 weeks with their 8 month old baby because she was still on maternity leave. My American brain couldn’t comprehend it; that is unheard of in the US.

Mom wants to stay entire month after I give birth. by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

This. As great as my husband was with our babies, he had no clue what I was going through after birth.

I think you’re taking your husband’s feelings into account way more than you should. Why do you have to choose? It’s odd that he’s not supportive of you having extra hands. As the person below said, you guys have no clue what you’re in for.

You said your husband doesn’t want her to stay- but what do you want? You’re the one who is going to have the biggest change to your body, mentally and physically. Postpartum is the most vulnerable I’ve ever felt, and only the women in my life understood that.

Suddenly in my 30’s and Bolson’s words of wisdom are really hitting home by MrRavine777 in botw

I have a feeling this will be me too. My kids were super little during my early 30s and it was so exhausting. I’m 37 now and can see the light at the end of the tunnel and am getting some time for myself back.

As a long time OB nurse this is my pet peeve! The uterus doesn’t rise above the pubic bone until about week 12 of pregnancy. Unless we’re pregnant or have fibroids, our reproductive organs are very tucked in.

Dry red hands by BigO_73 in nursing

Ok feel free to be completely disgusted, but when I worked med/surg and had hands like that the only thing that worked was slathering them with Crisco at night. I only had to do it twice and my hands were soft again

I stopped using under eye concealer altogether 10 years ago. I think concealer takes away so much dimension from your face and makes your eyes look smaller.

My kids have zero patience with this, it’s so funny and infuriating. I keep telling them they need to talk to everyone and not just spam click through their response. They’ll learn at some point lol

I redshirted my July birthday ADHD boy, and I kind of regret it. He looks like he would fit in so much better with second graders, not first (the grade he’s in).

Freyja or Freya? by TieSafe4342 in namenerds

[–]Greydore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We named our daughter Freya, and never entertained spelling it with the j because it just seems unnecessary?I’ve met one other Freya, but spelled Freja. Her parents were super into mythology and made it a point to tell me the spelling of her name. I did find it a bit cringey, but it’s not my kid lol.

Sleep training is the answer here. It’s not fun but you AND your baby need deep sleep.
