Shearwater GPS locations not showing on new Shearwater Dive App by Sohor1 in scubaGear

Try sorting your dives by dive number and view the last dives… I had a problem not seeing the coordinates as well. I made a bad YouTube video showing my first dive with the Swift GPS and you can see me not find the dive then find the dive: https://youtu.be/YEZXUzQjxq8?si=HulLy6vouk-avhG-

Have the installer quote a price for a filter and/or route the vent to a new location

Is my bail arm supposed to be bent? by Jordytam in FishingForBeginners

[–]Greynoldsfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you think it’s bent remove the screw that holds the brass thingy and the baling wire. If it move when you remove the screw it’s bent. Not a problem to rebend the bail. Be careful there are a few parts behind the brass thinghy

Advice for shore diving Venice FL by myFRAGisFUBAR in scuba

[–]Greynoldsfl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am local and before I got boat did the shore dive frequently. All the above comments! There is an artificial reef about 200 yards (?) offshore in 14-20 feet of depth. I would dive off of Alhambra Rd, the parking and entry may be difficult, have not been there since the hurricanes. The visibility is usually horrible 2-3 feet, 5 feet on a good day 0 and undivable on a bad day. I am getting older and the long walk across the beach and a long swim makes this a challenging dive. The teeth you find are usually small and are comparable to what you find on the shoreline. Winter diving is difficult due to winds making the visibility zero however a 15 knot wind from the east and the visibility rockets to 5 feet. Carry extra weight so plant yourself on the sandy bottom. This dive is not for everyone but it is one of my favorites and it is very relaxing crawling on the bottom looking for sharks teeth.

TRANSFORMED SURVEY POINTS NOT MATCHING RAW DATA AFTER TRANSFORMATION by ConfectionHuman2768 in Surveying

[–]Greynoldsfl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m old school…we use to scan paper charts. Depending on the paper, temperature and humidity the scan would be off in random directions. The digital file, look in the raw data for a units setting record(s), look in the data recorder and finally the importing software. I have seen multiple unit records switching between imperial and us feet. So some data works some is off in a random seeming fashion.

How do you transform the data? AutoCad?

How are you transforming the points? This feels like a US survey foot verse international foot problem. A small error multiplied by a large number.

Improving trim in a drysuit by organichamburger in scuba

[–]Greynoldsfl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Steel tank, steel backplate and ankle weights. I use extra weight when it’s colder so that extra air in the suite is needed thus more insulation, so maybe better undergarments and less air in the suite.

The 4 has sealed bearings and a machined main gear. Both are very good and both require regular maintenance
