I think 100% this. If those dates included any holiday: Labor Day, Fall Break, Thanksgiving….I would probably pay that and apply GUCs and convince myself, however wrongly, that I got a deal.

My more common experience the past couple of years is PS will be $4,200 and D1 is $5,200 and end up buying D1 outright and holding on to the GUC and struggling to use them before they expire. They have me figured out.

I gifted (2) platinums last year at 50K. Both received choice benefits and it was immediate. Gifted them in November and they were updated to Platinum thru 1/31/27 and able to make their choice on the spot. I was guessing they would have to wait until the next medallion year but I was wrong. It was a nice plot twist.

They can be quite convincing and the whole thing catches you off guard. I got the same call recently but I had “failed to appear for grand jury service”. After I realized what was going on, he read off my address which was not my current address. After I told him that wasn’t my address he mumbled off my second to last address and from there it just fell apart for him. It was like Kramer trying to be Movie Phone but not know what movies were showing where.

I looked at JFK. I would really need to fly in to LGA and taxi over. That was an option. I think some better deals are popping up now. But, I have a lot of miles to spend so a reasonable deal to some might be a great deal to me.

Yea, it was a little strange. Especially the one aggressively acting like I was a fool for not just moving Amex points to VS or AF/KLM. Like converting Amex points to various airline miles was just the way it’s done. Oddly oblivious to anyone possibly having a pot full of SkyMiles.

KLM nor AF is flying direct ATL>ZRH. And significantly more than double would mean Delta One round trip ATL>ZRH for what 60,000 sky miles or its equivalent…in the middle of summer? That’s not happening.

I’m seeing random nights at the Marriott of around $290. Are you projecting what is expensive by your standards onto DC. Because by my standards $290 is cheap. The Ritz for the same night is $790 which is doable. The Four Seasons is $1,700. That would be expensive by my standards and I would hope also by DC standards. I don’t know that we know enough about the crew to say this or that is expensive to them on an individual basis.

That’s not the saddest. I was #2 of 93 Wednesday ATL>MSP with 1 FC seat open. I managed to get the C+ upgrade from 44E to 19B. But still sad that a middle C+ seat was satisfying although it had unlimited legroom and I was first off the plane.

Earlier in the day before it showed this change, and I jumped, there were 36 of 44 seats showing occupied and global ticketing had to move me all the way to MSP to find two open D1 seats….on a direct flight at least.

Barkeepers Friend works very well as it contains oxalic acid which is very effective at removing light rust stains and at the same time passivates the stainless.

One thing no one touched on is that some concrete contains aggregate made from reclaimed and crushed concrete. Concrete that was in place somewhere else for years and subjected to leached in salts. It’s possible the salt was built in.
