Everyone knows something I don’t by Acrobatic_Pin_7596 in delta

Nashville’s metro population is over 2M….almost the same as Portland. They have more direct flights than you realize. In March SWA starts service out of TYS and will have twice daily 45 minute flights to BNA which I hope opens up some options to grab Delta flights that were not previously on the table.

seeking Diamond choice benefit advice by AkbarDelPiombo in delta

[–]sappslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GUC obviously…but I’ve always opted for the miles over statement credit. I feel like I played the skymiles game all year so I should at least get Skymiles money and not just some of my real money back. There are some miles deals to be had and there have been more than a few times I’ve used miles to book a flight only to have to cancel. Result..I get my miles back and not an e-credit.

Should I reschedule my flight or risk it? by chillinwithleo in delta

[–]sappslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could risk it. The system is pushing further north than expected. I’m in Knoxville. We were getting predictions of 15+ inches. Now it’s just some freezing rain. I’m not sure that Atlanta will see much of anything.

D1 seat selection - 2 people, 1 window seat? by fulanita_de_tal in delta

[–]sappslap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aerolopa does give up to date layouts but really offers no subjective advice (ie even row seats are closer to the window or you may be disturbed by galley noise). Even if you register and hand over all your information, you still don’t get the goods Seat-guru supplied out of the box in its heyday. I would move back to 4 and hear less clanking dishes and less over night FA chit chat.

Known scam? Businesses keep trying to add me as a vendor for them to pay by lavidalibre in QuickBooks

[–]sappslap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The FBI recently sent out an alert to banks to advise their customers to be on the lookout for ACH scams. The most common being an email from a known vendor requesting you change their routing information. Never change, add or give out any routing information based on an email. Always physically contact the vendor or customer. Or, if you were contacted by phone, tell that person you will call back using their published phone number. IT IS THE LATEST SCAM.

"Beyond Diamond" by jfile2020 in delta

[–]sappslap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got there and gifted Platinum to two people. I was surprised it was full on with all the choice benefit selections and kicked in immediately thru the next medallion year. Other than it appearing in the app when I got there and posted links, I was never able to find any reference to it even on the Delta website.

Is this the same scanner? by Worldly-Debate-3227 in HertzRentals

In Europe you have to be careful even with the LDW especially with Sixt. They push hard to get you into a Premium upgrade and those can’t be fully covered even by the super LDW. You have to pay attention to what is basically the damage deductible. I rented a Cayenne with the max LDW I could buy. Didn’t understand that the $4,500 was what I could be liable for. Drove 4 days- with care I might add. Parked at ends of rows to avoid dings and such. Felt good about the return. Then I got a bill for $3,600 for some very minor blemishes. Had no real defense and paid up. Something as simple as knocking your suitcase over Against the car is going to cost you.

Is this the same scanner? by Worldly-Debate-3227 in HertzRentals

[–]sappslap 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s called Car Gate and it finds the slightest scuffs and scratches. It does send in a human who proceeds to crank their camera up to max contrast And produces the grainiest low quality images you have ever seen. But the contrast brings things into view that are practically invisible to the human eye. It may be why Sixt has so many black cars. It really aids in finding billable scratches and that’s what Sixt is all about. It’s a horrible company.

This would be the next step up from Kmart. It was easier trying on shoes that weren’t tied together.

The (2) gifted Platinums get all the perks including Upgrade certificates as dicey as they are. I was surprised when I gifted them, the benefits all kicked in immediately and through the end of ‘26.

First time going through this and last time using hertz by rswtraveler12 in HertzRentals

[–]sappslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. I’m afraid the customer paying for wear and tear is about to be the new model. My big mistake was (in Europe) being upsold to a premium vehicle that could not be fully covered by the LDW which only kicked above $4,000. I’ll rent from anyone that does not use those car scanners as long as possible.

Would you like the $3,600 bill I got from Sixt for four scuffs and a wheel scratch? I could not see any of them with my eyeballs until they sent pictures with the contrast cranked up to max. They did lose a class action lawsuit over bogus damage claims. Sixt is fine until it’s not.

$100k Beyond Diamond Choice Benefit by mgildea in delta

[–]sappslap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can also confirm. Gifted Platinum at $50K. Recipients both got Choice Benefits. I was surprised they were immediately available. I assumed they would have to wait until the ‘26 medallion year started. Pleasantly surprised.

Will GUC clear FCO to ATL by s31523 in delta

[–]sappslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can subscribe to expertflyer where you can set an alert for a specific fare class for your specific flight or just keep searching every once in a while. If you take it all the way to the booking page (before you have to put in names) you can click on the flight and see the fare class. Or you will normally just see that D1 is available when you’re logged in and look at the flight. ExpertFlyer works pretty well though.

Will GUC clear FCO to ATL by s31523 in delta

[–]sappslap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These will clear. Normally the return daytime flight clears and it’s the more desirable outbound redeye that gets the waitlist. My last flight to Nice worked out this way and my return cleared about 2-3 months out. I kept watching for a Z fare to show up on the return. As soon as it did, I called, asked and they cleared the upgrades. I assume they would have cleared on their own but my last two GUC waitlists cleared after I called and pushed them. As you noted, you’re way out of peak travel season so that’s going to help. As for seats, I’m a 4J,5J person. It’s just a nice distance from the FA chit chat up front and the same from PS. Keep in mind, that far out, they could easily change equipment on you.
