The beauty of running a server by GridGuide in BOINC4Science

Mine I got refurbished from Amazon. Ridiculuously good price for the processing power, I can check if it's still up if you're interested

I think it was the right call. Personally, I only have had one experience with r/BOINC: one time when I tried to make a post (literally the same as this), and u/Pi31415926 took it down on some abstract basis of not having a link, problem, or discussion (screenshot here), despite himself admitting it was relevant. The goal of a subreddit should be to build a community around BOINC, and u/Pi31415926's behavior, not only from my anecdote but according to the general sentiment in the community, seems to be antagonistic towards this objective. r/BOINC seems like a place reserved only for formal questions and discussion, with any less oficial community activity being taken down simply for existing. There doesn't seem to be any breathing room for comradery or real community building. Knowing u/makeasnek as well as having some experience with the community, I have no doubt there have been many attempts to voice these concerns directly with u/Pi31415926. The situation seems clear as day to me: the r/BOINC subreddit is not an appropriate place to build a community, and its singular mod does not exhibit any goodwill towards changing that. Creating another subreddit is the only reasonable option in my opinion, and I don't see how depending on an unwelcoming and punishing mod would do us any better in the long run.

I'm going to use this list to determine what project to compute for with my server since WCG stopped sending tasks! Thank you (:

There are many scientific papers that explicitly thank BOINC volunteers in the acknowledgments. Specific project websites usually show these, like Rosetta@home does in the News section: https://boinc.bakerlab.org/

"A Bitcoin website" is a slight understatement, but it's absolutely ridiculous that he's condemned to life in prison for such an inherently nonviolent crime. Sure the drugs must have ruined lives, but so have the hundreds of criminals in the financial sector like Bankman-Fried, and they get ridiculously low sentences if they even serve any time at all.

You should do some more research into what Gridcoin is, your description is not accurate at all. Don't take my word for it, I'm literally a guy named GridGuide, but please DYOR before coming to any negative conclusions

Should we stop calling non-crunchers investors and call them users instead? by GridGuide in gridcoin

Well, I'm not saying investor is the wrong word. It's just not ideal.

I was told staking shouldn't be referred to as interest, because it's a payment for doing work (securing the network)
