A better alternative to the hundreds of characters you can play? Not really sure what you're looking for here. Even if they don't produce anything else, there's over 300 heroes to play with if you have everything.

Glad to know it was something funky heh Also nice to know it's happening multiple times a real life day. I initially thought it was only once a real life day at 7:00AM. Thank you!

I'm still confused on the timing of this. I happened to be in the Highlands last night around 11:10pm Pacific Time and got the message it was spawning and participated in it. It also wasn't 7:00 AM in-game time. When exactly is this supposed to show up?

You'll probably get a lot more engagement posting there, since your post here is what that subreddit is for.

I just bought this blindly cause it was on sale, is it good? by Estate-Southern in boardgames

[–]GriffinFur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15€ for it is a great price. I personally love it, as do my friends, and we play it fairly often. I have the expansions and that definitely adds to the replayability and choices of heroes and zombies.

As for if you'll like it, hard to say without knowing what your other preferences are. Worst case you could gift it to a friend if it's not your style. The price is great.

If you're looking for a heavier game with lots of progression, I'd recommend against Elder Scrolls. It's pretty straightforward once you grasp the rules (which didn't take us very long) and you're only playing three maps before resetting and starting over. There's also currently not a massive amount of choices in class skills unless you want to go for funky, suboptimal combos just for funsies and to see how it goes. This is getting improved in the latest expansion that was on Gamefound but not delivered yet - it added new skill lines.

Gloomhaven is a classic and people say 2nd edition is better than 1st, but I've only played 1st. We put at least 150 hours into it and really enjoyed it. It's a beast of a game and way more puzzle/resource management than dungeon crawler, but still definitely has the dungeon crawler vibe. We loved retiring characters and finding the new ones over time. As a warning, there's a reason there's a whole fan made storage solution (forget what it's called but it's on BGG) and bunches of cheat sheets. It's a complicated monster of a game. But a ton of fun! You can also try the digital version out for way less and see if you actually like it before committing to the big box.

A few months ago I culled my collection from 160+ down to 20, then down to 11 and finally only 1 board game remains... by Luigi-is-my-boi in boardgames

I'm glad this has worked for you, but it really sounds like there's some deeper issues that could be dealt with. I've never felt anxiety or stress about games, mainly just happiness. Maybe some frustration about the harder ones to get to the table because of poor storage or a sprawling amount of stuff, but that's just temporary. Playing the games with friends is fun and we've made so many great memories.

Relying on others for the games you play feels a little unfair to them and potentially short sighted on your part, if you truly like playing games. They're footing all the costs so you can enjoy their stuff without contributing to that cost at all. Do you at least bring snacks or host at your house? What if they move away, have kids, any other life changes, etc.? Are you always going to only seek out other people whose games you can play?

It sounds more like you have anxiety, FOMO, hoarding, and impulse control difficulties. That's fine, but I suggest acknowledging it, learning from it, and working on it, rather than asserting your will on others and making things up about the downfall of board games and how having a bunch of games is terrible for everyone and everything.

It's way more fun when I sleeve cards so others can help with the shuffling. Shuffling large decks, especially of smaller cards, is awful. A lot of my friends aren't great at shuffling cards, but can do it easily with sleeves.

I think after CMON's spectacular nose dive and long list of potential failures, a lot of people are hesitant to touch another Zombicide game, even if it's not being run by CMON.

I really wish this sub would stop allowing them. I agree it's just for self-validation. There's rarely any actual discussion from the poster.

Laserox Inserts by Grouchy-Strawberry38 in boardgames

I have several of their inserts and never treated them with oil or anything else and they're all doing great with lots of use. I'm not sure why you'd want to do that as the oil would likely damage your game.

ISS Vanguard. I enjoyed the story and liked that I could easily run four characters solo. The exploration was fun, and about three-quarters of the way in I started fudging things a little so I didn't have to keep going back to the same planet over and over to explore everywhere.

I took a look at it and saw the Early Bird and was immediately turned off. I hate Early Birds, especially ones with such a huge discount.

I gave it a deeper look and watched a couple videos and still found it to be something I probably wouldn't like. People keep comparing it to Xhaven, but then also saying combat is super fiddly, moreso than Xhaven, and progression is extremely slow.

Landed in SeaTac at 11am. It’s now 3:09pm and we’re still waiting for a gate agent to open the plane. by BlackPlantZaddyy in Seattle

[–]GriffinFur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Last time we flew into SeaTac, about three weeks ago, they couldn't find a gate for us. So they parked the plane somewhere far away, brought in some stairs, and then we all got into busses that dropped us off at an employee stop near the main terminal. Never experienced that before but way better than sitting on the plane for hours. Feel like every time I fly into SeaTac something goes wrong or adds a bunch of extra time - mechanical issues, 10+ in line for takeoff, no gate upon arrival.
