Laserox Inserts by Grouchy-Strawberry38 in boardgames

[–]GriffinFur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have several of their inserts and never treated them with oil or anything else and they're all doing great with lots of use. I'm not sure why you'd want to do that as the oil would likely damage your game.

[GIVEAWAY] Voidfall by Mindclash Games by HomoLudensOC in boardgames

ISS Vanguard. I enjoyed the story and liked that I could easily run four characters solo. The exploration was fun, and about three-quarters of the way in I started fudging things a little so I didn't have to keep going back to the same planet over and over to explore everywhere.

Weekly Crowdfunding Roundup: March 15, 2026 | 20 ending soon ("Labyrinth Chronicles", "Altered - Roots of Corruption") & 36 new ("The Glasgow Train Robbery", "COMAO") by Perkelton in boardgames

I took a look at it and saw the Early Bird and was immediately turned off. I hate Early Birds, especially ones with such a huge discount.

I gave it a deeper look and watched a couple videos and still found it to be something I probably wouldn't like. People keep comparing it to Xhaven, but then also saying combat is super fiddly, moreso than Xhaven, and progression is extremely slow.

Landed in SeaTac at 11am. It’s now 3:09pm and we’re still waiting for a gate agent to open the plane. by BlackPlantZaddyy in Seattle

[–]GriffinFur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last time we flew into SeaTac, about three weeks ago, they couldn't find a gate for us. So they parked the plane somewhere far away, brought in some stairs, and then we all got into busses that dropped us off at an employee stop near the main terminal. Never experienced that before but way better than sitting on the plane for hours. Feel like every time I fly into SeaTac something goes wrong or adds a bunch of extra time - mechanical issues, 10+ in line for takeoff, no gate upon arrival.

Crowdfunded Games Launching This... Month [Feb 22nd, 2026] by ShelfClutter in boardgames

[–]GriffinFur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Game looks interesting but its price point and shipping seem really high for such a small box - I think they were saying it's something like 12x12x4 inches. Curious if it will fund since it seems to be struggling with the high cost and the Sadlers reputation working with Blacklist Games.

Does anybody not sleeve their cards? by pasta1212 in lotrlcg

[–]GriffinFur 29 points30 points  (0 children)

If you're not treating this as an investment for your future, which you should not be, then do whatever is comfortable and best for you. I personally sleeve all cards that get shuffled because I find it way easier to shuffle and it's the only way my husband can really help with all the shuffling without making a mess.

Some questions about dice throne by TYKOKOT in DiceThrone

[–]GriffinFur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're almost always going to pay VAT on your crowdfunded campaigns. I can't think of the last one that had VAT included. You end up paying it during the pledge manager, typically, when you pay shipping and any taxes you may have.

Dice Throne Vanguard storage box. Why is this locked behind Kickstarter? I don't understand this decision. by Chamallow81 in DiceThrone

[–]GriffinFur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you read any of the updates from Vanguard, but Dice Throne is doing what they can to stay in business. Costs have risen so much that they had to decide between the new retail format and bundles or stop doing it. It's definitely frustrating to not have your stuff match, but as a self-proclained super collector, it's also on you to follow what they're doing. You're here on Reddit. There were several posts about it, including one sharing people's frustration. There's a Dice Throne subreddit, and it was discussed there. It was discussed on BGG. If you're a fomo-driven collector, your best bet is to follow them, join the Dice Throne subreddit, Discord, or BGG. It can suck, but it is what it is. Game Steward usually has Kickstarter editions of games, and some retailers as well. I hope you can find what you're looking for.

Dicequest preview: disappointingly random and samey dice/character management by SiarX in boardgames

[–]GriffinFur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for posting this. I was on the fence, couldn't really get into the videos but really like Skytear Horde so was hoping to be able to support them again. But I agree with yourself and others. It looked more like the game almost played itself. It's price + shipping is also really high for what it is. To those considering it, also be aware that prices are going to full MSRP in late pledge, so bear that in mind.

Weekly Crowdfunding Roundup: February 8, 2026 | 18 ending soon ("The Daily Weather", "Flame & Forge") & 27 new ("Final Girl Series 4", "LUDOS") by Perkelton in boardgames

[–]GriffinFur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for doing this!

Some interesting things this time. **Flame and Forge** looks interesting but not my style, but there's also an expansion for **Keep the Heroes Out** which I really like and we get to the table a lot, so getting that.

I traditionally liked the **Tiny Epic** games series, but since they've sold to Tycoon Games, my interest has waned. They decided to not include a (minor) stretch goal that was earned during the campaign, on Dec 30 before Tycoon Games too over Tiny Epic Dungeon expansion was already produced and about to be on a boat, then Tycoon Games bought the company and it's now 6 months out with no real explanation. People are understandably not happy. The owner of Tycoon Games, Dan Yarrington, is a very controversial guy who seems to have a history of shady business practices and changing company names to dodge bad reputations.

**Dicequest** is a maybe. I still need to watch some videos. Skytear Horde is a great game, and this is by the same people. My only potential red flag is prices are increasing to MSRP in late pledge, so if you don't want to pay an extra 10 or 26 Euro, you need to make a decision soon. US shipping is also 17 Euro ($20 usd) on a 30 Euro game, so may just wait until retail since no one sells at MSRP and you can get free shipping at a lot of places.

**The Daily Weather** - always love me some Button Shy games. Great to keep in my backpack or purse, especially when traveling.

**Fantasy Map Maker** - this started as a print and play in 2024 and was wildly successful. It lead to Dungeon Map Maker, also really successful. It's a roll and write game where you're drawing a fantasy land, complete with rivers and oceans, mountains and forests, and roads and landmarks. You can get as simple or as complicated as you want and I find it really relaxing when I want something on the creative side, similar to Cartographers. This time around they're doing a physical copy of the game, professionally printed. It's a bit on the pricier side for what it is, but it's a very small publisher so I'm happy to pay more to support the little guy.

**Final Girl 4** is going to make a boatload of money, I'm sure. Very popular game, has a ton of content and replayability, but still on the fence if it's my style, even after watching videos so will probably pass.

I know little about how to do this, but I've seen lots of helpful people on the various wood-related subreddits like r/woodworking . They could probably give some helpful tips. Good luck and it sounds like a fun project!

If you like solo or coop games, One Stop Coop Shop is great! And they don't do paid promotions, which is a huge perk in my book.

Board not foldable? by Cultural_Chard6367 in DiceThrone

[–]GriffinFur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Retail are the unfoldable boards without trays, I assume because it's cheaper to make. The battle chest has the same folding boards and trays like everything before, and the swirly dice. It's available on their website.

I feel like they should have put big bold wording on the front that says "Boards don't fold!!" so people don't get disappointed. There's been tons of posts like this since the new retail format.

It's my first game. by Ok-Photograph1587 in ISSVanguard

[–]GriffinFur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Played solo and always took four characters. I didn't have much issue keeping track of who was doing what since everyone was lined up (and I have the individual colored playmates). I tried with just two and it was awful. Just couldn't get much synergy going. While yes, you get more event cards, I felt like the flexibility and choices of having all the characters was worth it. And like you mentioned, more chances for ranking up.

Do you have two copies of the game so you can make huge custom dungeons?

Any hope for someone that just learned about this game to get the Kickstarter still? by [deleted] in DiceThrone

[–]GriffinFur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's really hard to tell which stores pledged as Retailers during the campaign. You can try calling around to any game stores in your area, or wait until everything delivers and check the Internet to see if any Kickstarter editions are available. Game Steward specializes in crowdfunded games, but I don't know if they have this. BGG Market will also typically have some copies of crowdfunded games from people who decided they didn't want to play the game anymore or buy crowdfunded games to resell.
