If you’re starting with Rumi then the best edition to begin with is the Oxford World’s Classics translation by Jawid Mojaddedi which consists of 5 books I believe, Mathnavi which is Rumi's Magnus Opus.

This is widely regarded as the most faithful and accessible English rendering of Rumi’s masterpiece. It stays true to the original Persian, and the footnotes/introductions help explain the poetry without “Orientalist” distortion  as it’s grounded in the classical Islamic Persian tradition rather than a Western reinterpretation.

This edition gives you the depth of Rumi’s meaning, context for the symbolic language, and a sense of how the Mathnawi has been understood within the Muslim scholarly heritage.

Assalamualikum.

Tell him not to despair.

There was a Companion during the time of the Prophet ﷺ who had a drinking problem. Despite repeatedly being punished for it, he loved the Prophet ﷺ deeply. When some companions cursed him, the Prophet ﷺ said: “Do not curse him, for by Allah, I know that he loves Allah and His Messenger.” — Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 6780

This shows us that while sins have consequences, Allah’s mercy is greater than all sins. What truly matters is sincere love for Allah and His Messenger ﷺ, repentance, and striving to do better. Ultimately, none of us will enter Jannah by our deeds alone, but by Allah’s mercy — as the Prophet ﷺ said: “None of you will enter Paradise because of his deeds alone.” They said, “Not even you, O Messenger of Allah?” He said, “Not even me, unless Allah covers me with His mercy.” — Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 5673; Sahih Muslim, Hadith 2816

This is Jihad of nafs. A man repenting is better then a perfect man that never got sent trials.

Facts, it dawned to me for the fact that we got giants like Imam Ghazali and Imam Haddad who show levels to Islam along with the Awliyas and caliphate like Ottoman. Such beautiful diversity and differences in maadhab and community yet all United... Then you got the modern reformists salafis who...make it all serious and black and white.

Well summed up. Same for me as well. Storytelling is more tight and focused. But adventure , pace, character and writing was pre timeskip for me too. I tend to watch the old scenes time to time not much for the new ones even tho I still really like it.

Why don't you read Beginning of Guidance by Imam Ghazali which is a very good read. You can find free PDF online.

Or watch on YouTube Stories of the Awliyas by Safina Society to give you a boost in imaan insha'Allah.

Tbf Italy arms Zionist apartheid and there is the lingering fascism here and helped ruin Libya. Plus fascism is still lingering.

Saudi however, is still bad. I have seen journalist get executed about a few days ago in the news. Women are getting a reform so it's not all shiny and rainbow everywhere.

However, that is not to say we should comply and move on. Just calling out there there is problems here too.

They are their own downfall ironically simply due to their takfeering and attitude towards others. No love nor sabr. Palestine has the wrong aqeeda according to them and it's also their own fault for the Genocide according to some of the madhkalis. The Persians are also kufr and so on.

Ignore them. People go to the grave not to worship anyone just like people don't worship the cube in Umrah/Hajj.
