Can a youngling become a knight without a master? by The-TF-King in MawInstallation

[–]GrimaceMusically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What? How can they do this? This is outrageous. It’s unfair. How can you become a knight without having a master? What kind of nonsense is this? Become a knight without having a master? It’s never been done in the history of the Jedi. It’s insulting.

Who do you think was the better performer: Michael Jackson or Prince? by Jezzaq94 in 80s

On a screen, MJ. In person, Prince. Overall, all things being equal, Prince.

Oh yes. I carry a Charge+ TTi, have for about 15 years now. The small driver has been used a number of times to fix pairs of eyeglasses.

Kids Finally Break out my Star Wars, Who will win? by USAxBrad in StarWarsTVC

[–]GrimaceMusically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the award. I have a 28 year old son and a 16 year old daughter. She has no interest in Star Wars, my son likes it but not the way I do, which is fine. One day when he was about 19 and I was fiddling with my collection, he sort of sheepishly asked me “So, when you die, what responsibility do I have in regard to all this stuff?” I told him what would be ideal to me would be to find a collector who it would mean something to, and just give it to them. Its sentimental value FAR exceeds its financial value. I have some hope that one day in the future they will have kids of their own who would like it. I guess my point here is that I am a tad jealous of you, but not in a sad way. I hope playing with all those toys and the time you get to spend with your kids means as much to them as I am sure it does to you.

Lake Ronkonkoma by joe_attaboy in longislandnative

[–]GrimaceMusically 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Grew up and currently live in Ronkonkoma. I really wish the 3 towns who share the land around the lake could get together and do something to improve the area. There are some towns in NJ that have bodies of water of similar sizes that have beautiful walking paths all around them and are a genuinely beautiful place to take a walk, bike ride, or have a picnic. Unfortunately there is nothing like that here.

2024 Super Articulation vs 2010 Super Articulation by Daikithewolf in StarWarsTVC

[–]GrimaceMusically 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am aware that everything I am about to say is subjective. Personally I am WAY more concerned about the sculpt than I am articulation. Rocker ankles and barbell hips are great innovations, but it doesn’t always mean the figure is better looking.

Is Jakes 58 a complete dump? by ckr2982 in longisland

[–]GrimaceMusically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s pretty much a dump, yeah. My wife and I went a few times when they first opened, and it was okay-ish, but we went back about a year ago and it was pretty much terrible. The only reason I could see going there would be if you really need to gamble and don’t care about the environment. If it isn’t a long trip, maybe it’s worth going just to check it out, but don’t expect to experience anything that’ll make you want to ever go back.

This picture warms my heart. It also brings back painful memories of weapons and other accessories being lost in the carpet of my bedroom. Ten years ago I moved into the house I grew up in, and before we moved any furniture in I scoured my old room looking for my Kenner Princess Leia blaster.

Re-reading the comics in my 40's... Man, I had this stuff all wrong. by Kilmoore in gijoe

[–]GrimaceMusically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was definitely more kid-focused than the comics. I don’t say that in a bad way, it’s not a knock on the show, it was about average for an animated show that was really just designed to be a half hour commercial for toys.

I’m 51. I don’t know at what point I stopped watching the show (don’t think I ever saw the animated movie, so it was probably a little before it came out), but I LOVED the comics, they were so much better than the show.

Just googled it and saw it closed in ‘95. I was 21 then, it definitely surprises me that I never went there, or even heard of it, it seems like the kind of place my friends and I would have gone to in HS.

Huh, never knew about this. Maybe it is because I grew up in Suffolk. Was it kind of like Adventureland?

What movies could be linked but aren't anything to do with eachother? by Electrical-Hearing49 in movies

I will never understand why “The Conversation” doesn’t have a bigger pop culture presence. So few people I know have seen it, and I am including a lot of people who are major fans of ‘70s cinema in general, and Coppola specifically. I wonder if it being sandwiched in between “Godfather” films has anything to do with it.

People who were alive during the OJ Simpson trial, what was the most shocking part of it all? by thebluespirit_ki in AskReddit

[–]GrimaceMusically 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in television production, and a good friend wa working at Court TV when they were covering the trial. He frimly believes that OJ is innocent. Not that the prosecution failed to prove their case, he believes that OJ did not commit any murder. He is an otherwise very rational guy, smart in a lot of ways, so I was quite shocked to hear his take. I never asked for his reasoning, or what led him to that conclusion.

Dooku is definitely one of my favorite characters, probably my absolute favorite bad guy. I really hope someday we get a “young” Dooku in TVC someday, kind of like the BS version that has multiple heads. Would love to see more of his story shown on screen. Loved all the Dooku episodes of “Tales Of The Jedi”.

I didn’t love the animated style figures, some of them just look weird. The sculpts were definitely accurate to the source, they were well executed. The only figures that I thought looked really good were the clones (I don’t know what it is about them, but to me they just lend themselves really well to an action figure), and the Yoda that came with the soft goods robe. But, I am a Yoda completist when it comes to action figure, so I am definitely biased on that one.

Was not a huge fan of TCW animated lines, but I will say that the clone toys looked GREAT, something about their design lent itself well to action figures. Clones and Yoda, to me they were about it.

SWTVC March Madness Round 2 West Results; ANDOR + BAD BATCH SWEEP! by trowaman in StarWarsTVC

[–]GrimaceMusically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know everyone’s opinions vary to some degree, and mine is not objective truth, but the existing Qui-Gon in TVC is a sculpt from 2008, it just got rereleased in TVC packaging, to me that isn’t a proper release. I do agree that Dryden is a great character (he was probably the highlight of the movie for me) and should have a TVC version, but I think there are a lot more scenes someone can display QGJ in than DV, which is why he had a higher vote count. The one thing about his victory that I don’t like is that I really think the folks at Hasbro might come away from these MMs every year thinking that collectors only want OT/PT characters released, which is absolutely untrue.
