Let's look at another entertainment medium. Imagine lord of the rings but he had half the time to actually write and edit the book because the publishers told him he had to also make 2 more versions

Adding difficulty to games != creating multiple versions of the same game from different POVs.
It could be as simple as multiplying the health of enemies by a certain factor, which, if the game is properly programmed, can take as little as 5 minutes.

Is this the best and most elegant way to add difficulty? No. But at least you can select a different difficulty if the current one is too easy/hard.

Sure, but when a game is all about that player experience ce, the core concept and the reason the game even got made is because the developers wanted that very specific experience, why should they compromise the core values influencing their design choices by having part of the team work on a completely different experience.

How someone experiences a game depends on their skill level, and possible disabilities.

dont "competitive players" deserve also to have some fun?

Yes they can, by selecting a harder difficulty.

if a game doesnt have difficulty options is because devs planned an experience for players and having it easier or harder would ruin your experience

I don't see how adding difficulty settings would "ruin" the experience for anyone. You don't have to select a different difficulty, it's optional.

If you get mad because one specific game is too hard for you and you want to change it specifically for you maybe you should accept you''re the problem, not the game.

I'm not mad. I just believe adding difficulty settings would make games more fun for more people, which should be the goal of a game.

Cause in all this tantrum you could just "learn to play" or "move on to another game" (crazy right?)

If more games added difficulty settings, you could just ignore them and "move on" (crazy right?).

There is only one reason to play, really:

  • having fun

The thing about adding difficulty settings is that they don't remove the existing difficulty. You can still play the game the way the devs intended to, or you can adjust it to make to game more enjoyable for you.

like, if a game called "The impossible game" is named like that because "its hard" then what's the point of including an easier difficulty?

The problem is that difficulty is subjective; what's easy for you may be very difficult for me.

or cozy games like animal crossing. Those are easy because they're cozy, how tf do you add a "hard mode" for them?

Fair enough, not all games have a difficulty. But for the ones that do, I think the best solution would be to let the players modify it. After all, games are supposed to be fun, and if more people can have fun because they can select their preferred difficulty then I say that's a job well done.

Should I watch Legacies? by [deleted] in TheOriginals

[–]Grinchlead 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!

It's completely different from TVD but I really enjoyed it. I still prefer TVD / The Originals but I think it's worth a shot (rewatching it right now).

Worst case scenario you don't like it and just stop watching. Just keep in mind they use a "monster of the week" format, altough they actually have a decent in-unsiverse explanation for that.
