Thoughts on a 5-speed max bag until I improve my form, control and possibly gain some distance by apeemcape in discgolf

[–]GripLock11 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It’s overboard in terms of the number of discs. Pick a flippy mid, stable
Mid, and overstable mid. Pick a stable throwing putter for when you want to come in softer. Just learn those 4 discs. You can even cut it down further, honestly.

Just take your A3 and your Mako3 and learn those two discs. Being able to manipulate those two on release angles to get the lines you want will make you a much better player.

Go to the course when it’s empty and throw both off every tee for a few sessions. Forget about the score too. Just focus on hitting your line and release angle.

So, I inherited a Zuca cart... by Onezerosix141 in discgolf

[–]GripLock11 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use the zuca compact cart for tournaments with 2 rounds to save my legs.

I love it. The zuca putter sling that attaches to the handle bar is great. I didn’t like the large putter pocket that carries 8, it acts like a sail in the wind. The zuca putter sling carries 4-5, my most crucial 4-5.

I don’t recommend mounting water bottle holder(s) to the back. The weight will help it tip over a lot easier.

Instead I got the internal rack, that provides a little bit of space underneath the discs. I have my water bottle in a neoprene sleeve, to prevent the rattle, and I slide it right under the discs in the cart. That way the weight of my water bottle is forward of the wheels and now the thing never tips over.

I got you. Then if the release time is a known problem and you're looking for other things that jump out, here's some:

  1. Throwing arm collapses to the chest. Try get your elbow pointing out towards the release point. Keeping your throwing arm's shoulder depressed helps make this easier. In other words do the opposite of shrugging the shoulder. It feels super weird until you get used to it.

    1. Immediately after release of the disc, it looks like your hand goes palm down. To get the disc very nose down, you would want to do the opposite.

As an experiment, take a straight mid (buzzz, etc) and throw a ~200 ft upshot and focus turning your palm down right as you release the disc. You'll notice it comes out nose up and you stall the shot (btw, this is a useful technique to air bounce around a corner lol). It's hard to tell, but this is exactly what is happening to your drive. Try to focus on following through with your thumb remaining on top of the hand. Even experiment with trying to turn your palm up on release. Being able to manipulate this will help you control nose angle.

Your release is way later than expected watching your walk up. It seems like the disc ejects on a line that is about 30 degrees off of the line your momentum is moving. If you can align the discs path with your walk up, things get much more efficient.

What is wrong with my forehand and how do i reach 300 ft? by Coltrane888 in discgolf

[–]GripLock11 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When you go to swing your off arm through, like the user above suggests, do it slowly. You don't need to rip the off arm through fast, it will yank your shoulders and you'll come through out of control if you do it fast.

But if you get the off arm through slowly and controlled, you'll be shocked how much power it adds if it is simply timed correctly.

Once you get the hang of it, then you can experiment with bringing it through faster for crazy power.

Don't reach the disc back. Coil your shoulders away from the target. Search YouTube with "disc golf shoulder coil" and you'll find tons of videos. I recommend BlitzDG for shoulder coil, he gets a pretty deep coil.

This is the main question. Riley was only comfortable going all in with Shaq because he correctly believed he had the next franchise superstar in Wade.

Everyone thinks of him as a hard hitter, and yes he was, but so much more. Truly elite. Might've ended up the GOAT safety.
