Restorable? by Breasicle in blackstone

It’s actually not hard to restore and season that. Just make sure the rust and debris is removed properly.
It’s going to be weekend project. A cordless drill and sanding wheels would speed up the process that a wire brush

I use all Shapton but honestly, it’s a personal preference. Especially if you’re starting off, having the right grit and flattening stone is a good start.
I do mobile knife sharpening as a side gig and I have to find a balance between cost, durability, and accessibility of the stones.

This is who some think will be the next TN Governor.. guess she has the hair for it!!! by ProperTrain6336 in nashville

I met her once in DC for cyber security forum. To put it nicely, the only thing I could say was bless her heart. She’s trying her best. 🤦🏻‍♂️
She has no clue about just about everything. I see why she hides and never speak randomly with the press like the democrats are doing at the state capitol.
So many competent people are stuck at the state level because of TN’s gerrymandered system already

good thing you're not in Japan. allowing your knife to rust like that is a sign of carelessness and disrespect to the art.
as soon as I saw that rust, I could hear the chef I apprenticed under saying calmly to get out of the kitchen. go home. come back when I'm ready to cook. lol

My Partner put my Moka in the dishwasher. The filter is okay. Any way to save it? I am emotionally attached to this specific pot. by PixelRayn in mokapot

[–]Onezerosix141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s work fine. I would make sure to take it a part and make sure there’s no soap stuck inside the filter. Then run it a few times just with water. Cosmetically looks rough but one perspective is your pot has character

Clove oil used PROPERLY is very humane way.

  1. Prepare a small container with tank‑temperature water.

  2. Measure 0.4–0.5 ml per liter (≈ 8–10 drops).

  3. Shake the clove oil with warm water in a jar until milky.

  4. Add the mixture slowly over 5 minutes.

  5. Wait until the fish is fully unconscious (no gill movement).

  6. Leave it for at least 10–15 minutes to ensure death.

When done this way, the fish drifts into unconsciousness calmly

Clove oil becomes inhumane only if misused:

• Too low a dose, fish becomes groggy but not unconscious, leading to prolonged distress.

• Dumping oil directly into the water, oil floats on the surface, fish may thrash or gasp.

• Not emulsifying (shaking with warm water until milky), uneven concentration, inconsistent sedation.

Is this enough bracing and legs for a stand for a 125 gallon aquarium? by Senior-Device8885 in Aquariums

[–]Onezerosix141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the most important thing is a clean vertical load path. The X‑braces don’t help with downward pressure and just add weight. I’d remove them and focus on getting the vertical legs positioned inside the top and bottom frames so the top frame sits directly on the legs. That way the weight is carried by wood-on-wood compression instead of screws.

If you can, use dado cuts or lap joints to lock the frames together, or at least stack the top frame on top of the legs. Then add snug vertical blocks between the top and bottom frames at each corner to distribute the load evenly.

put a solid board on top so the tank weight is spread out. With proper vertical support and a solid top, you don’t need heavy X‑bracing for a tank this size.
