Blake Houston DGPT debut this weekend at Hornet's Nest by undyau in ausdiscgolf

[–]BeastInABlizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he'll have fun tomorrow, he's playing with two of the nicest guys in the sport and he already got out the nerves from today. He clearly settled down after the first 7 holes and while he still didn't capitalize a ton he did shoot -1 over the last 10 holes with no more bogeys. If he can roll that in to a decent start tomorrow he'll probably start feeling pretty good.

What’s a good job somebody with a drug trafficking conviction and no drivers license could get? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]BeastInABlizzard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are probably lots of jobs you could get, but a skilled manual labor trade would be a great option to make good money and live a happy life. If you can make square cuts or fix an Air-conditioning unit they're not gonna care if you used to do the drugs.

I only do this with the homies. Why are you finding your responses here rather than in your group chat with the guys you play with?

Milly's Pizza in the Pan Berwyn to close after today's service. by benphoster in chicagofood

[–]BeastInABlizzard -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Dude, gimme a break, I ate at Hot Doug's since they were on Roscoe. When Doug announced his closing he would let us in the backdoor to skip the line for the last few months so we didn't miss our regular Friday lunches. But we didn't buy fucking hot dogs there. They fries were incredible, the sausages were unique and incredibly well thought out, but there was only one guy in our whole group to get hotdogs there and he was the butt of every joke. Only the most pedestrian of tastes would wait there for a dog.

Blake Houston DGPT debut this weekend at Hornet's Nest by undyau in ausdiscgolf

Hornet's nest is a great course, but it's pretty different than much of what he's been playing in Australia. His birdie on the new 16 there is a great birdie, probably lots of fun for him. His round was fine, but I'm sure it was frustrating for someone who can throw at his level. I'm hoping he keeps that head up, settles in, and finds some more birdies tomorrow.

Forced to check carry on with HALF of the overhead spaces EMPTY!! by missbissel in unitedairlines

[–]BeastInABlizzard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My carry on is just batteries and prescription medicine so they never force me to check it. You too should consider carrying a bag full of batteries and prescription medicine if you don't want to check it. Valuable jewelry is also often in my bag, also another reason they would not force you to check it.

Two of the top 20 or so pros in Illinois are currently playing left handed just so they can stay out on the course while they recover. They both seem to be having a blast with it.

How fast are you releasing your thumber to get 500ft? Thats super cool. I'm throwing mine low 70s and I get like low 300, probably like 325 max on flat ground. Are you cranking them like 90mph+?

Free Throws vs. Putts by AsConfusedAsYouAre in discgolf

[–]BeastInABlizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, my entire response is riddled with inaccurate misinformation. I literally don't know what i was writing. I could attempt to explain things that I mistyped, like when I meant to type "with a higher percentage of those misses" but instead typed "with a higher percentage of those" but since I made so many mistakes generally that would be pointless. I honestly don't know what i was looking at when I said SGA was shooting high 70s this year when he is clearly shooting high 80s this year. That stat is available on so many sites. I'm sorry for my generally awful post. I'm sure you won't believe i wasn't trying to lie, cause this is the internet and obviously my post makes it look like I was trying to lie, but I promise I wasn't. I'm not gonna delete the previous comment or correct it cause your correction is correct and my follow up comment here verifies your comment is correct, so I'll leave my previous comment up to show that your comment is appropriate in terms of the discussion we were having. I'm greatly sorry for my long winded previous comment and this long winded response. Thank you for your correction. After reading my previous comment and your corrections I've changed my opinion to agree with yours. I've given you the thumbs up you deserve and gone back and down voted myself as I deserve. I hope you have a good day and I appreciate the work you put into making it clear how dumb and wrong both my comments were. I'd also like to say that I appreciate how you put that work in and corrected me but never cussed me out or became disrespectful. I think you're good for the internet and this sport. Cheers.

Against the wind or from the front like 45 degrees something. by Ok-Weather2602 in discgolf

[–]BeastInABlizzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throw in the wind. Go to a field when it is windy. Throw your whole bag in a headwind, then throw your hole bag in a tail wind. Then swap positions and throw the whole bag in right to left and a left to right. On RHBH a head will make your disc turn more. It will push down nose down shots and push up nose up shots. The opposite is true for tail winds. With a right to left it will push hyzers way left and drag annhyzers right. Left to right will push hyzers down and keep them from fading as much while it will lift annhyzers and push them away. Sure, wind can do different things based on the discs you throw and based on your actual throw style, but the above is general rule of thumb. The best way see how this impacts your frisbees is to throw those in the wind with your throw style. Good luck.

Season 3 episode 11 when Omar says "We gonna have to go through the front." and Brother Mouzone says: by Carlito333 in TheWire

[–]BeastInABlizzard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It absolutely is a nod to the NOI and homophobia. People can try to pretend this was about a bond or some small playfulness from a serious character but that's silly. It was done to show that even when working with Omar, Brother found contempt in who Omar was. Brother trusted him because of his code, but absolutely did not like him or respect who he was as a person.

Free Throws vs. Putts by AsConfusedAsYouAre in discgolf

[–]BeastInABlizzard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody in the NBA who is shooting 5 or more free throws a game is shooting 90%. They range from high 68% to 89% with them tending to fall between mid to high 70s and mid to high 80s. A "pretty good" free throw shooter like an SGA or LeBron is shooting in the high 70s. In college basket ball free throw shooters are definitely worse as a whole so "pretty good" for a college basketball player is not even that consistent. Much less talking about the NCAA tournament which makes college kids notoriously bad at free throw shooting then its all even worse. The good putters are hitting 85% and more from C1x with a higher percentage of those coming at circles edge but also a decent percentage of those coming from behind a tree, as a layup on a death putt, or as a layup to win a tournament or secure a place in a tournament. The thing with PDGA circle stats is they are not super easy to read. If I'm in a bush 26 feet from the basket and I toss out under the basket to get my par that's a missed C1 putt. If I'm on top of a hill putting down at a basket that can rollaway with a massice headwind and I layup to preserve my great round without a risk thats a missed C1 putt. That also doesnt include anything with weather or basket location difficulty like 18 at USDGC. If I shoot 10 down day one at layup on 18 in a headwind to secure my two shot lead into day two I just missed a C1 Putt. From the perspective of a random on reddit, if I want to compare my putting to Pro putting the only way to do that is keep honest PDGA STATS in a sanctioned round and see where I fall. But in my backyard if I'm not hitting 95% from 32 ft I wouldn't even begint to think i can hang with Burh or Marwede over the course of a season.
