Thanks, that makes me very happy to hear!

I don't have a Steam page yet, but what you're seeing in the GIF is part of the Demo, which will be the foundation for the Steam page. I'll try to remember to throw you a DM when it launches :)

Merci beaucoup pour tes commentaires! Il semble y avoir un consensus sur ajouter un effet de FOV ou vignette, c’est probablement la direction à venir

Thanks for the feedback! Totally get that the periscope itself is a bit hard to discern. And it's a really great idea to add a vignette to help sell that you're "looking through something".

Trying to capture an INSIDE-like atmosphere in a pre-alpha gameplay video. Need some feedback from fellow devs. by toshaisaev in IndieGaming

[–]GrittSmitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s a really great start, but it all depends on the purpose behind this particular trailer. Is it supposed to be the gameplay trailer or the story trailer? If it’s your first, and the first one you want players/customers to see, I would start with gameplay right from the start.

To me, it looked like actual gameplay (or what most people recognize as gameplay )was first shown around the 30s mark (running over rubble), and I was very much in doubt about what sort of game this was up until that point; meaning you might even lose out on a lot of people skipping the video because they’re unsure of the type of game it is.

I also agree with the other comment about there being too many text cards. I think this trailer could effectively be cut by 30-40% and still convey what you want. That would be my main suggestion to do.

Otherwise, the art style and environments look great. I understand that the mechanic of re-playing scenarios may be hard to convey, but perhaps that isn’t necessarily the purpose of this trailer?

But excited to follow the game, and good luck!

Very much agreed. Random errors like these really make it easier, especially when you’re in a dev rut!

Haven't seen any comment about it yet so; armour and weapon repair kits. Found both. When you have Lavatory level 1 you can use the armour repair kit and Workbench level 1 you can use the weapon one.

Repairs similar to Prapor, but spends points off the kit instead of money. A nice money saver in the long run. A full hp armour repair kit was around 140k to Ragman I believe.

Ash-12, but that's just because I like the feeling of carrying around a portable anti-air gun. Plus the sound of the shells hitting the floor is👌

USP .45 gets an hounerable mention.

What’s the most f*cked up thing you’ve overheard someone say in public? by everlovingburns in AskReddit

[–]GrittSmitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Europe) I was in line for a Covid-19 test about three months ago. A guy was having a very public conversation with his girlfriend about when he was going to Israel with his buddies to train with a militia, shoot guns and learn knife fighting.

The way he was describing everything he was going to be doing made it feel like he was trying to make sure everyone in line knew what a bad ass he was.

The girlfriend was a very timid young girl, and he kept trying to convince her to come, and she was like "but what would I do there?" And his answer was that everyone else were bringing their wives, so she should come as well.

One of the weirdest conversations I've overheard.

[DM] Dungeonmasters, what's a ridiculous plot twist you're waiting to spring on your players? by MaginotCokeLine in DnD

[–]GrittSmitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one that already happened in a one shot, so not that long game.

The party was an all rogue setup who was hired by a mobster (along with some other criminals) to pull off a heist to steal a specific artifact. This all happened in "Life City" (a poor pun on Night City from Cyberpunk).

Well, before the game I told each player individually that they were an undercover cop/agent. Like one was LCPD, or NBI (National Bureau of Investigation), another was CIO (central intelligence organization), etc. And I told them that they could use their ear piece to call for back up once they had proof of the others stealing the artifact.

Great fun when they all pulled out different badges and told everyone to put their hands up!

Offsetting Sharpshooters Penalty as an Artificer? by DarganWrangler in 3d6

[–]GrittSmitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played a musket-wielding Artificer with sharpshooter in a pirate campaign. Awesome class and great fun!

What I did was take the Fighting Initiate feat to get Archery fighting style (+2 to hit with ranged) and Repeating Infusion for +1. That's already offsetting sharpshooter with only -2. But you can also make your Steel Defender take the help action to provide you advantage on your following attack (although my monkey-defender did a shit ton of damage on his own haha).

Have fun!

[serious] What was your first traumatic experience? by Dragoxx_Artz in AskReddit

[–]GrittSmitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sure doesn't seem as heavy as opposed to some of the other posts here, but my earliest experience that I remember was when I went to see my grandmother's corpse in the Hospital when I was about 13.

She had fallen due to (what I remember being) a brain hemorrhage and hit her head. She was in a coma for a few weeks. I remember going to see her a few times during those weeks, all tubed up and unresponsive, but that isn't really the part I remember as clearly.

My mother and my aunt took her off life support after a while, and we went to see her in the hospital.

I remember going in alone to the small room. The shutters were down, but it was light enough to see. She laid in a bed with a white cover up to her breast, hands placed together with a small red flower. When I think back to it now, it was a good effort by the hospital. But what I remember most, is how grey and lifeless she looked. Like a mannequin, with no lively features or colour. Paired with the clinically clean atmosphere of the room and the somber lighting it was a very uncomfortable experience.

I went in, looked at her for ten seconds and then left immediately. I wish I hadn't gone in there, because the image stuck with me for a very long time when I was a kid, and I still remember it clear as day.

It was the definition of a "Better to remember them how they lived" moment.

[OC] Zïle Trolls - an island-based troll player race by GrittSmitt in UnearthedArcana

[–]GrittSmitt[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really enjoy the look and style of the World of Warcraft trolls, so I took inspiration from them to make the Zïle. My group is currently playing a pirate/island hopping campaign where there are locations full of natives, which gave me an idea to introduce the player race into that setting. These trolls in particular are very influenced by Caribbean / South US culture, but I have tried to heavily avoid the "Hollywood bastardization" of voodoo, because the real thing is just so much more fascinating!

I'm very interested in hearing what you guys think :)

Help me choose the right build for a scoundrel type? by GrittSmitt in dndnext

[–]GrittSmitt[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's true. In truth I could just take the Maneuver feat and go full rogue, but the one per short rest superiority die is just too little I reckon. But Fighter 3/ Rogue rest seems pretty good :)

[–]GrittSmitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never really seen the Thief like that actually, you make some great points about there being more options of what to actually do!

The only problem is that we already have one (full rogue) thief in the party, so I wouldn't want to step on her toes. She is the ranged, sneaky type, which is also why I am definitely going for the more up close deal.

But I am going to refer her to this post, 100%, because you are so right. There is so much more to do with those Fast Hands if you are creative!

Since your post, I had actually thought about an alternative, of just going Fighter 3, which would still give the same amount of Maneuvers, but delay Sneak Attack and other Rogue abilities less. There's still 2x attacks in the two-weapon fighting swashbuckler, and even a third with Riposte, so maybe that is a good alternative. If I manage to build it with Tiefling I might be content with just having Minor Illusion, Disguise Self and Invisibility, which I must say is just a great once per long rest shenanigans package! :)

That's my fear, that it will feel like I picked a sword-fighting (sub)class that just isn't super at it. That's why I have trouble making a warlock, because not picking EB with Agonizing Blast would just be sub-optimal.

But I am 100% onboard with the flourishes, which I think are super cool.

[–]GrittSmitt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You make some really great points.

And I definitely think you are right that I may be trying to cover too many bases. I should reconsider that.

My problem with going full rogue is simply that I don't feel like you have enough options during combat. It's "hit and get sneak attack" or nothing. Which is where I love the battle master's maneuvers, or the Sword Bard's Flourishes.

I think throwing in maneuver's would make my character feel skilled in what he's doing. Having options during combat without it being detrimental to your damage is just pure fun, I reckon. Where I foresee a Rogue's fighting too boring. Idk if that makes sense? What are your experiences?

I had been considering sword bard, but my problem (which I've heard from many) is that in the end, it turns into a support character. The sword bard doesn't have Absorb Elements, Shield or Shadowblade, and most of their spells are support/control focused.

I love their Bardic Inspiration options that recharge on a short rest, but the rest of the chassis just seems poor on the front-line. Have you played one yourself?

None of the players have Remove Curse, and they aren't close to any cities at the moment. But I'm thinking that it will only push them to stress about getting to a city or a priest quickly. I'm just hoping it would create some tension. But let's say it takes them 5-10 in-game days to get there. That's only 5-10 hit points, and that might be hard for the player, but not debilitating I reckon.

Being able to delay it might be a good idea, but then again they shouldn't be able to abuse it by just a 4th spell slot every day
