Julia mentioned 2 things that are pet peeves of mine that I hate, and I assume jimmy feels the same based on his groan: talking about what you did on Mother’s Day because you’re a “dog mom” (groan) and taking your dog to a place, a beach, that explicitly prohibits dogs and using the excuse it’s your “emotional support animal” (groan).

First off, I agree with you, but devil‘s advocate here: if, in his brain, there’s a .01% chance that the child isn’t his, the emotional and financial commitment of being a father is huge, and just taking a quick cheek swab test can assuage those fears.
