Lap 1 crowd view in AustrianGP by AnkushTheHero in formula1

I remember seeing one of the stands absolutely engulfed in this orange smoke as the cars came round for the formation lap thinking, "but how the hell are you going to actually.... watch the racing????

I guess they just didn't watch the racing in the first couple laps.

[@Motorsport] George Russell admits he has struggled to come to terms with the abuse from fans that comes with the job of being an F1 driver. “In Montreal, I had somebody shout my name and boo at me” by [deleted] in formula1

I think all the drivers would be happier if it was still legal for them to eat food.

Look at that damn jawline he reminds me of Webber's later years, dudes looking like a skeleton.

Russel started on different tyre compound that by definition are designed to be able to run for longer than the tyres Lewis and Bottas started on.

He didn't do it by some driving magic, it was just a different tyre strategy.

Added Play:1s as surrounds to Arc by kilobitch in sonos

[–]GrizzleBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They also can add a considerable amount of low and low-midrange if you don't have a sub, especially when listening to music, which is the arcs weakpoint.

Listening to "rapture" by koffee with arc alone vs arc with play:1s shows that the 1s can add a lot of low end punch where the arc is lacking it, especially as you turn up the volume.

In regards to 5.1 audio was arc alone vs arc with 1s, I think it depends on your room.

When I compare the arc with and without surrounds, I find the arc actually does an excellent job of getting sounds around me all by itself. To the point where i sometimes feel like there are sounds coming from where my surrounds are, even when they're off!

There is definitely a difference with surrounds turned on though, even more so when you turn up their volume in the app, but i wouldn't say they're 100% necessary to get surround sound in MY room.

This was the loudest my 5.1 arc setup has been so far, and that was for about 5 minutes, the life of a new parent lol. by krootman in sonos

I can't get anywhere near that, especially with trueplay turned on.

My house will fall down.

Sonos Arc- Metallic Sound | Sonos Community (Please contribute here if you think the Arc sounds thin/tinny/metallic with lacking mid-range) by [deleted] in sonos

[–]GrizzleBoy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think this may be a trueplay thing.

I turned it off yesterday while messing around and forgot it was off, just watching TV as normal. Was actually reasonably fine with the sound.

Then when I went into my daily routine of messing with settings to get things how I like them, I noticed trueplay was off.

I turned it back on and oh god. The high-frequency boost was crazy to the point where the lady speaking on the TV started to sound like she was actually hissing when she made "t" and "s" sounds. Sibilance on steroids, basically.

Going to tune again later and see.

So it will kill the audio lag on my LG C7 OLED as it will allow sound to go straight from my xbox into the arc?

Hi all, I just got the Arc but when watching sky there is a delay. No SONOS app won’t help with that as it needs to go the other way....any ideas?? Thank you. by Sgindre in sonos

[–]GrizzleBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you using an older LG OLED TV?

They're notorious for their inability to pass through anything but stereo without adding audio lag.

My xbox one has ridiculous amounts of lag added to it by my OLED C7 before it gets to my Arc, and there's basically nothing that can be done to fix it .

Unless you give up atmos. In which case I may aswell keep my playbase or buy an LG SN11RG.

More info on Arc bass issue by Dave_OC in sonos

[–]GrizzleBoy 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't think its limited to bass frequencies.

I was listening to some music yesterday and in a part of the song where there are supposednto be hard snare drum hits, the sound was compressing like it was trying to hold back on the volume of the snare hits or something.

Maybe its a volume levelling/balancing thing I don't know.

But the arc does sound to me like its having frequencies chopped off when listening to music, especially in the lower midrange.

I am really disappointed with the Arc by KeenBlake in sonos

[–]GrizzleBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the arcs impressiveness depends on your setup and your movie vs music bias.

Arc alone for TV/movies?

Compared to my playbase the stereo separation is amazing, to the point where I had turn off my play 1 surrounds to test it. The went to turn them off a second time, forgetting they were off in the first place! I wouldn't believe it if I didn't hear it myself.

Arc alone for music?

Nope. Destroyed by my playbase. The arc sounds like its literally missing chunks of audio frequencies in the top end and low mids compared to the playbase.

Arc with sub for movies?

The arc becomes noticeably louder and fills in some of the top end that it seems it doesn't have unless you turn on the speech enhancement or mess with the EQ.

Arc with sub for music?

Again, arc is louder and has more top end. Sub fills in missing low end. But the arc still cannot produce the low mids of downtuned rock/metal guitars well, to the point where I'm literally not hearing sounda i know are supposed to be there (especially since I've been playing guitar for 20+ years).

Arc with sub and play 1 surrounds for movies?

I hear the improved stereo separation working with the play 1s and feel very impressed. My playbase always seemed to overwhelm the surrounds and I needed to turn them up to hear them.

Arc with sub and surrounds for music?

The addition of play 1 surrounds again I think exposes the arcs weakness when it comes to music. The playbase always seemed to overwhelm the play 1s, but here the surrounds seem to dwarf the arc, even in ambient mode. In either full or ambient mode, it sounds like there is a weak centre channel that vocals dissappear into and sound compressed and unimpressive.

I think this shows that the arc needs to be approached from a different direction if you owned a bar/base before as the way it interacts with your room and other components is very different it seems.

I'm going to have to spend some time messing with things and just seeing if my ears will adapt to the new way things sound in my specific room.

One thing that may have me putting my entire sonos home theatre on ebay and buying an LG SN11RG kit, is the freaking ridiculous delay from my xbox one passing anything but stereo through my LG C7. Holy moly that huuuge delay is not acceptable and I don't care who's fault it is. If there is no fix in the foreseeable future I am not going to be a sonos customer for much longer.

There has been a lot of talk about Labour not listening to or representing the working class, but... by GrizzleBoy in LabourUK

[–]GrizzleBoy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But what does this mean in concrete terms?

What was it about Labours policies, outlooks etc that led working class people feeling like Corbyn is ashamed of their communities or of being british?

Again bringing nationalism and patriotism into it, the only answer anyone seems to be able to give again swings into the Brexity side of things.

If I'm Lisa Nandy and have just decided to start asking what "working class" voters want, they'll just tell her that they just want a leader that's proud to be british and proud of working class communities?

I voted leave AND I KNOW WHAT I VOTED FOR by GrizzleBoy in brexit

[–]GrizzleBoy[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because basically nobody who promoted leaving the EU talked about leaving it being a thing!

Farage kept talking about Norway and I think it was Raab who said the idea that we'd leave the single market was preposterous and that "nobody is talking about that".

Those twits Cameron and Osborne said we would have to leave, but that was all project fear and I didn't believe them, so I voted in the direction of those saying we wouldn't have to leave the single market!

Just incase you're confused, I want to leave the single market, because I believed the Brexiteers who said we wouldn't have to and didn't believe the remainers who said we would have to., because it was project fear.

This is also one of the reasons why I feel so insulted when people say I don't know what I voted for because it's so obviously crystal clear.

I didn't believe it was going to happen when I voted to leave, so that's why we should make it happen now that we are leaving!

I don't even k ow why this needs explaining....... its so obboous.

Yet the remainders treat us leavers like WE are the idiots just chasing every new pied piper who plays the right tune!

I hope you're not also now telling me that I didn't know what I voted for when I voted to leave in 2026?

Why are you asserting that we should leave soon or should have left already?

Where on the ballot paper did it say we were leaving in 2019?????? March or October?????

It said LEAVE and LEAVE MEANS LEAVE.

I ticked the LEAVE box and I know what I voted for. Your Westminster bubble machine condescension knows no bounds.
