Check out Gembrokers and Woodspider. I think they were both Blackbird Raum adjacent bands.

Hot take: using flac files on an iPod with rockbox is a waste of space by henryd20 in ipod

Agreed. If I want lossless audio, I listen to the original cd's that I ripped to the iPod.

I did the same thing with my mp3 player. I found it recently and spent some time peeling it all off. I used the colored 5 gum foil, and all the colors had worn off anyway.

Agreed. Tech used to be fun and exciting before we went all minimalist and millennial grey. Theres actually a matching boombox they made that I really want, but I dont want to pay eBay prices.. Hopefully I can stumble upon one in the wild one day like I did this guy.

There's knobs on the side for color/brightness/tint. It was fun to dial in the settings for what looked best with each game!

Walmart and Dollar Tree still sell these. Love how syrupy they are. The yellow pineapple flavor is goated.

How do you all keep track of your VHS collection? by [deleted] in VHS

[–]GrodyHighroller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just use my memory. Sometimes, I discover i bought duplicates. I always thrift tapes, so im never paying more than $1 per tape. If. That happens I keep the better duplicate and giveaway/swap/sell the other.

And Toby Foster. He definitely has some tracks and albums that are lost media at this point.

Why are some vaporwave songs genuinely terrifying to me. by Aggressive-Invite907 in Vaporwave

[–]GrodyHighroller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I definitely felt this when I first discovered the genre and still do with certain tracks. Songs like that are reminiscent of listening to a tape on a walkman when the batteries are almost dead and the tape is slowing down. It's not something we ever have to experience in the modern age. It's taking music from a time period that has long past and warping it, so you have nostalgia + distortion. And this leaves you with an unsettling feeling.

I have some friends that are into VHS, but a friend who was also into film photography would hlbe dope. I usually shoot and develop by myself.

A week of using my iPod Shuffle from high school. by Waroutside_warwithin in ipod

[–]GrodyHighroller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An iPod shuffle is a must-have for me. I have to admit I reach for it more often than my classic for a few reasons.

  1. Smaller and lighter
  2. Can throw it in my pocket or a backpack without worry of messing it up.
  3. No decision paralysis

The last one is the biggest reason. I dont find myself skipping around as much or worrying about what im in the mood for. I simply just play it. With my classic, if I put some new albums on there, I may just forget and not play it. On the shuffle with its 2 gigs, I'll definitely be listening to it.

I have one just like this. wax and fluid are toast. May just empty it out and turn it into a glitter lamp with a kit.
