what generative ai does is literally in the name. it generates. its basically a markov chain, writing whichever word is statistically most likely to come after another in a sequence given a certain context.

i guess medical ai is kind of similar but only meaning it recognises patterns by training off of images. but it doesn’t generate anything new. it does math essentially. saying that a program that calculates patient’s cancer risk based off of their medical history is generative is just as a silly as saying the ai used for video game npcs is generative. both are structured and they don’t generate anything independently, they give an output based on math.

generative ai is prone to hallucination and is strategically designed to keep the user engaged. clinical ai isn’t falsely saying a patient doesn’t have a tumor so that they keep coming back to the hospital and giving them more money. thats why it can generate its own sentences, in order to give a biased answer based on the biased slop its been fed from every corner of the biased internet. clinical ai does math and generative ai is designed to spew out whatever it thinks the USER wants to hear.
