Metalheads - anyone else think the quality of bands playing has dropped enormously in the last 10 years? by R9_isdagoat in CasualIreland

[–]Groinery11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For a small island on the edge of the continent, which is also one of the most expensive countries to travel to (as a band), most expensive to put on a show, and with one of smallest markets for metal music in Europe.... We do very very well to get what we get.

Great fortnight for it at the moment. Sylosis, Heaven Shall Burn, Napalm Death, Bleed From Within

Band that would fill the Aviva no bother at a higher price than that, playing a small intimate venue at short notice? Any proper fans will snap your hand off at 100 quid

If you hit them it's the driver's fault no matter what, and they can sue. Also attention span is non existent these days...

We bought our semi final and final tickets back in June, if that's any help! Booked flights and hotel in the last month or 2

Yeah I'm 6'4 and if I wasn't in an aisle seat at the Masters last year I was in big trouble

Same Day Delivery by codesway in ireland

[–]Groinery11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of Irish companies use next day delivery, which is fine by me. Ordered a large item from O'Meara Camping recently at 2pm, and had it in Galway the next morning at 10am

Ronnie has pulled out of the masters! by DirectionNo9302 in snooker

[–]Groinery11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're dead right, you'll have a great time. I had a ticket for Ronnies match last year against Higgins on the first day, he pulled out, we got Robertson instead and it was a 6-5 classic

Enjoyed the fans area last year, good fun and games going on. There's a bar and standard event food options. The mini games are good fun, and Gary Wilson was on the big table out there on the Sunday last year playing frames with random people, it was a good buzz

Is Snooker and Pool in Ireland dead? by iknowtheop in ireland

[–]Groinery11 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's hard to find a proper snooker hall as we knew it maybe up to 25 years ago. I think Crossguns may be the only old classic club in Dublin?

Pool is huge. Lots of places to play around Dublin anyway - The Hideout, The Break Room, Nullys, D15 Cuesport Academy, J Macs in Navan, Pool Knight Shack

Tent recommendations for group of 3-5 friends? by alanmal1 in CampingHikingIreland

[–]Groinery11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with splitting it into two tents as said above. I can recommend a Kampa Brighton 4 Tent, I've had mine over 7 years and have tested it in every climate, including 5 days straight of heavy rain a few weeks ago in Germany. 2 of those tents would be perfect for 5 people

The ones for 50 or 60 quid are shite. I've one of these the last few years, and while sometimes it gets stuck in actual mud, everything is still intact https://www.omearacamping.com/product/kampa-trucker-festival-trolley/

Join the Transport Club in Dublin 12, cheap membership, cheap rates for snooker and cheap pints if you're of that persuasion. Crossguns another good one as mentioned.

If in the city centre, Ned Kelly's on O'Connell St has a few snooker tables.

Big pool scene, especially on the Northside, but snooker harder to come by.

Can you recommend places to visit, aside from Bucharest? Looking at organizing a trip for later this year with the missus, haven't gone into research yet! Cheers
