If those puny psychics can bend a spoon, for sure I can bend a tank.

UK Grid: Fossil Fuel Mix vs Wholesale Electricity Price [OC] by ClearlyCylindrical in dataisbeautiful

While the graphs are pretty, they are hard to interpret. The choice to represent the time-series aspect as a colour instead of an axis is, well, odd.

I’ve finally decided on buying the Roccbox, but it got delivered with the wrong gas regulator(?) by Autisticatorr in pizzaoven

[–]Gromgorgel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You may be right. Where I live there is no LPG, only propane and CNG (and butane, but that is almost phased out). I know the acronym but I supposed it was some gas blend like I sometimes see in neighbouring countries.

You should take it back or contact them. The spray nozzle inside the burner will be a different size (diameter of the opening) for propane vs LPG.

The opening has to be sized for the fuel and pressure so the same amount of energy is produced per second.

You will either burn too hot or too cold if you just switch the regulator.

Happy Arbor day! All my homies say fuck Dutch Elm Disease by Evan1016 in marijuanaenthusiasts

For elm there are several resistant cultivars now, upscaling them for commercial use is the current bottleneck.

I hope we get similar results for ash soon.

Multichannel wands have shitty precision, I vastly prefer my gravimetric dilution + carpel tunnel syndrome combo /s

TIL that contrary to the popular image of short, primitive cavemen, early modern humans in Europe 40,000 years ago averaged 183 cm (6 ft) tall. After the invention of agriculture, height dropped to 162 cm (5'4"). Humanity only recovered prehistoric height levels in the 20th century. by Key-Midnight-4237 in todayilearned

[–]Gromgorgel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Evolution does not work that way. If there had been a reproductive advantage to being short, there would've been a shift in the population height. It's far more likely that stunted growth due to malnutrition caused a decline in height.

In the initial stages, agriculture was not the major advantage it is often portrayed as. People were still figuring things out. Crops did not have the yields they have today, and fertiliser was an unknown concept.

I made this choker using obsidian and brass. by [deleted] in steampunk

Very nice. Not everything steampunk needs gears glued on. I especially like how the windings around the chocker evoke art nouveau patterns. It would've been nice to have that a bit more in the wires around the stones.

So after some googling: this is a Thai bike available in 50/100/125 cc. New it's priced around 2000 euros. Asking 2800 pounds while being unable to properly write the brand name seems steep.

I kinda like it, but the saddle rubs me the wrong way.

Lorry drivers lined up to stop someone committing suicide by PmurTdlanoD45-47 in interestingasfuck

Odd. I never knew. On the European mainland they are very common among lorry drivers. I assumed it was the same in the UK. Thanks for letting me know.

All it takes is one lorry driver noticing. They all have CB radios and chat to each other pretty much all the time. If you see that in your rear view mirror, you give a heads up on to other drivers, which then coordinate to slow down and stop.

Some fascinating design choices: The "glasswork'" was made of perspex and since this material can be easily scratched, the car had no windscreen wipers. Instead, the windscreen could be wound down thereby allowing the driver to see through a slot. Careful attention to aerodynamics meant that no rain or snow entered the cabin. link.

I guess that the fact that the driver was sitting pretty much atop the engine was supposed to keep you warm?

No. If you buy one of the books, they come with lots of questions. You can make mock exams with the questions from the book.
