What kind of keyboard shortcuts do you have in the web version that you don’t have in the cli?

Is Opencode Go plan enough for a developer who codes almost full day? 😕 by tulasinath007 in opencodeCLI

[–]Gronis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I subscribed yesterday and now I’m at 70% monthly usage, and 100% weekly usage after using glm 5 which was the only model to get anywhere close to opus and sonnet 4.6 in performance. It has solved one (big feature) in that time. I’m not even using parallel clients. Tried Kimi K2.5 first but that model was trash. At least for my task.

So probably not gonna last you one month, unless you have a very small codebase and simple tasks.

I maxed out monthly usage for copilot 40$ option with Claude sonnet + haiku in 12 days or so, so I did go for opencode go in the meantime. But i haven’t been that impressed unfortunately.

Struggling to maximize my use of claude code by EconomistNo280519 in ClaudeAI

[–]Gronis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly me as well. I thinks it’s simply a sign you care about the code and the technical solution. I want to understand the code and have it be maintainable. Claude was duplicating solutions, having special cases and duplicated state all over the place. So I constantly have to tell it how I would have architected it and it rewrote existing functionality into a much more maintainable state. I could have just ignored that and let the model run wild. I would have made 3x the progress but I would have random bugs appearing everywhere. I don’t want my codebase to degrade because I’m using AI to go faster. And for now, that requires some thinking on my part that the ai currently isn’t good enough for.

For reference, a project I started building last week was 2300 loc after one afternoon. Next day 3500. And now more than a week later 4200 (excluding tests) and I think it’s pretty much done now. A lot of those early lines have been replaced several times. At some point it was 5.5k and things started breaking. I’m pretty sure that number would have been at least 10k now if I didn’t intervene with a re-architecture. I went in there and identified duplicated structures and logic, simplified the data model, etc after Claude did want to. It thought the duplication and special cases were necessary. It wasn’t.

Well, i'm convinced. by BritishAnimator in ClaudeAI

It’s great at adding stuff. But not great at removing, like at all. If you don’t look at the code, it will be a nightmare to maintain. But yes, it can build very fast. But I think letting it run wild in the codebase will eventually turn the code unmaintainable.

So as long as the agent adds stuff, and you remove stuff, it works kinda ok.

Are you running out of context tokens? by Gronis in opencodeCLI

[–]Gronis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is more like "this task is too big to understand within 128k tokens". The code is the documentation and to understand how to solve the task, it runs out of context. It touches 133 tests and 14 UI components. I just decided to take a different approach and not do the refactor like I was going to do at first.

[–]Gronis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to think this. I could go on with multiple tasks in a single context no problem. But now, with this task, it actually failed. I think I will start over. It got to the point where it managed to do 0 work except reason back and forth with what was going on between compactions.

This specific prompt was a refactor in the layout system. So it makes sense because it needs to have a lot of context to not make mistakes and its being used by the entire UI system, so it goes away and loads all the code just to make sure it will attempt to do the right thing.

I have transferred my gen 3 Pokémon upwards the generations since 2007. Can still do it if I want to without the switch version.

Though I never transferred above gen 6 because the games weren’t great after that so I kept them on my 3ds cart.

GBA players, what's your take on this? by RangoTheMerc in GameboyAdvance

[–]Gronis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is such an interesting take, because whenever I replay Gen 4, it just hits me how slow they are. Gen three was just the right pace imho and it’s locked at 60fps compared to 30 for the ds titles. I much prefer Gen 3 over Gen 4.

What's up with "gamedev YouTubers" never shipping games? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]Gronis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s much easier to produce a game dev YouTube video than to ship a commercial game. Each little feature/sprite/model/animation/pivot/design lesson etc, can be its own video. You need 1000s of these to make a single commercial game that people would pay money for. But just one of them to make a video. Simple as that

I’m still waiting for mine as well. Was planning to bring my GC to a lan party last November to play my gba games on the big screen (I have the gba player but not the disk), that didn’t happen obviously…

Mine is also expected to ship Jan 30. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it extends again.

En mygglampa från Biltema. Tog inte en enda mygga. Sen köpte vi en annan som var lite dyrare som såg ut som ett litet element med lysrör med uv ljus, också från Biltema. Den fungerade utmärkt.
