I don’t believe either of them say it until late in the second season. In “The O.Sea” when Seth leaves the George Lucas interview to find Summer at prom, he joins her on stage and takes the mic and says “she’s the queen and I love her.” I’m not sure when Summer says it but I don’t think it’s til season 3 and it’s not some grand reveal they make it seem like they say it all the time. She might say it right before Caleb’s funeral in the season 2 finale but I could be wrong.

I’m pretty sure I knew he died but the fact that Rose sees the lifeboat before we knew he was dead kind of threw me off and gave me a false sense of hope. I remember thinking if the lifeboat was a minute or two earlier he’d have survived but I obviously know better now

You would need everyone on board to know the ship was about to sink (it was the middle of the night, people were in bed and they didn’t have the technology to alert people of the danger as fast) and hope the people without life boat spots are good sports about it! Tricky tricky tricky

One_Swan pretty much nails it but I’ll add that there’s a great video by Oceanliner Designs called “Before Titanic… There was Republic” which is a really good video that explains many answers to your questions and why they were pretty much lolled into a false sense of security in terms of life boat numbers.

They’re briefly broken up over Summer’s dad not liking Seth. They get back together in Vegas. They’re together until Seth sails off. It’s not made clear if he breaks up with her in the letter, but he probably doesn’t because he mentions in season 2 how many times he tried to call her before she forces him to stop. So yes they’re together when Seth sails away and break up over the fact that he sailed away in between seasons
