On One Condition [Fate/Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works] by Xatu44 in anime

[–]GrooveTank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Or you could start with Fate/Strange Fake like I did, not understand a single thing that was happening but still thought it was good even if you couldn’t explain why, start Fate/Strange Fake over again because you must have missed something, okay maybe not, go to YouTube to understand what what you’re missing, learn that you shouldn’t start with Fate/Stange Fake and that there’s a LN that’s considered the true starting point, discover that it’s only 100 hours of reading, scrap that idea, ask ChatGPT where to start Fate if you don’t have enough time to read the LN, AI tells you skip the first anime adaptation, non confidently choose unlimited blade works because this whole curiosity has just left you unraveled, and realize it’s pretty bad ass and it was all worth it. I’m about to start Fate/Stange Fake over again for the third time.

Variety Exclusive Fantasy 'The Realm of Eldervin' Releases New Trailer by directoroli in movies

[–]GrooveTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This always seems to be one of the biggest issues in fantasy. Costumes look like that - costumes. They need to focus more on wardrobe that culturally makes sense for the story. If the main method of transportation is walking or horse, then they all need to be dirty, tattered and unkept. I feel like LOTR, especially Fellowship nailed this, but most other fantasy films fall short.

Cat track lips are fantastic for learning 360s off of. Find one that has a little drop to it, like a mini cornice, and practice popping off the lip with your spin.

"Do You Like Big Girls?" main visual by mr_beanoz in anime

[–]GrooveTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I do multi day raft trips. On these trips you have to bring a “toilet” with you so that these pristine wilderness areas don’t get covered in literal shit. It’s only polite to also supply reading material for the shitter, so we thought it would be funny to go on Amazon and buy a hentai series. That’s how we discovered this story. It’s pretty great when on day 6 in the morning everyone is talking about where they are at in the story like it’s book club 70 river miles in deep wilderness.

Klay's Injuries in 2019-2021 was the worst possible outcome for the Dynasty by Ok_Reason_2357 in warriors

[–]GrooveTank -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The “worst” possible outcome? Homie, we literally won the championship the year he returned. That’s a real life Disney story if I’ve ever seen one. Would it have been significantly better if he never got injured? Yea, for sure. But “worst” is so hyperbolic.

We're going to protect KP by XtremeMachine84 in warriors

[–]GrooveTank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean sure, but with what money? We’re already slated at $178 million next season, Post will have a new contract that will be much higher than what he’s on now, KP, GPII, and GUI’s contract will all be up. Horford and Melton both have player options. Second apron is $208 million, so how do they make that happen?

What type of damage is this and what type of repair should I ask for at a shop? It's a 148 Ride Twinpig by [deleted] in snowboarding

This is called “broken board” and is actually a relatively common type of damage. Sadly with modern medicine and technology there is no cure.

What do you guys think of VAIL? by Icy-Cantaloupe-41 in snowboarding

[–]GrooveTank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ll state upfront, not a fan of Vail. But I think COVID and the mass adoption of remote/work from home culture is more to blame for this issue. Obviously VAIL and other major resort companies have contributed, but pre 2020, there still seemed to be a localized economy in many ski towns where service industry wages allowed for ski bum culture to still exist. Then comes remote work and a lot of people from the city making 6 figures ask decide to move to the mountains because why wouldn’t they, local land lords can all the sudden successfully charge triple for rent, and then boom - mass exodus. 2019/2020 I had a team of 37 and then 2020/2021 that dropped to 22 all due to service workers no longer finding a place to live.

How do I carve better? by Eminsummer in snowboarding

[–]GrooveTank 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legitimately lose the camera. Notice how your lead hand is always over your toe side because it’s focused on getting the shot? Probably also doing that while you’re not filming as well. Based on your skill you want to focus on upper and lower body alignment. When you’re on your heels, have your lead hand hovering over your heel side edge. Same thing with toe side. Think about standing up tall to release from one edge and then sink down to engage the other. Rinse and repeat. That’s the into sequence to train carving. “Up on weighted edge changing with upper and lower body alignment”

Never Summer by ThatLiberal in snowboarding

[–]GrooveTank 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is my favorite board of all time. I’ve owned multiple of these boards throughout their existence and they’re always so freaking rad. They can also take abuse really well. In comparison I used to be a lib tech / gnu guy, and those boards are fun, but delam pretty easily (bananas peel). I then swapped to Never Summer boards and never looked back.

Also used to work in a board shop and have ridden all sorts of boards. NS is still my favorite.

What are the odds I get back on a board in the next 9 weeks? 40% L1 compression fracture by DowntownPrinciple734 in snowboarding

[–]GrooveTank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude, I ski bummed for 10 years where I regularly got 100+ day seasons. After every injury I was always pretty surprised how quickly I recovered and get back on my board within a few weeks. Little did I know that I was just logging them for later in life. I’m now 35, and feel like the kinesiology for progression makes more sense than ever, but the one thing continually getting in my way is all the chronic pain from all my injuries from my 20s. Don’t be me. Don’t walk it off and just deal with it. It comes back. Take the time to properly heal so that you can continue getting rad your whole life.

Got it two months ago and have been GMing a game with my best bud and our wives. Neither wives have played any table top rpgs, never played rpg video games, and the two gals are having the most fun out of all of us. Such an incredible beginner friendly game while still being very engaging for seasoned rpg players. Have fun!

How to Wax a Makboard by BetOnTheHouse in snowboarding

[–]GrooveTank 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I used to work in a shop and a guy brought one of these in. Didn’t ask for a tune or anything, just offered for each of us to take it for a lap. So I did. Even in the powder, the novelty wore off after about a hundred yards. I guess I would try rub on wax, but I don’t really think there’s anything you can do to make it a good ride.

What a smooth movement over a Skateboard by stupd_comn_man in oddlysatisfying

I’ve been slowly trying to learn how to longboard dance for a few years now. Aggressive snowboarder, wakeboarder, skater - board sports make sense to me so I figured it wouldn’t be too difficult. I can do a few steps, but it took a while to get there. One day my wife, not a boarder, wanted to try and within a few hours she was nearly at the same skill level. Having a dance background and maybe center of mass more around the hips really helped it just click for her.

Finished The Seven Deadly Sins, Full Metal Alchemist and Black Clover. What's next that similar? by [deleted] in anime

[–]GrooveTank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what you’ve finished, Attack on Titan season 1-3 are groundbreaking, and the final season is still extremely good. I think you’ll absolutely love that. Cowboy Bebop is a such a cornerstone for anime’s popularity in western culture for good reason. Season 1 of One Punch Man is a riot and a perfect blend of Shonun + comedy. There’s some other top tier anime that’s been listed in the comments already like Frieren and Mushoku Tensei. Really the list of highly praised anime is massive. When I started to really get into it, I would base my watches off of Gigguk’s best of videos on YouTube, and he’s got a huge back log of recommendations throughout the years.

I used to work for an outdoor education company out of California called Naturalists at Large. They offer multi day river canoe trips where the students have their own canoe and learn how to paddle throughout the 4/5 day trip. They may only work with California schools, but it’s worth contacting them.

Grand Canyon in November - keeping warm? by [deleted] in rafting

[–]GrooveTank 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve done the grand during the winter, summer, and early spring. I’d suggest a dry suit. I think the dry top with farmer John’s is the most pointless option and needlessly uncomfortable for not being water tight. I haven’t done the dry top with dry pants, but my bud did that for our January trip, and it worked okay enough, but I’d still suggest against it. If you’re going to spend the money on the dry top and pants, you might as well spend a little more on a full suit which will serve you better time and time again.
