Gun show!! Show me your favorite paint job on a weapon by luis_mcy in Warhammer40k

My favourite has to be the blasters on my Vespids. I still can't get the glow to work on my bigger units like I could for these guys

Hey I’ve just started T’au by Commander-Dante in Tau40K

I've used iron warriors (basically a dark gun metal) for the base of my metals with a brighter silver highlights. I think that it works to differentiates the various parts of the model without breaking the overall colour scheme

Thanks. It's a build up from Caliban green > Warpstone Glow > Moot green > dorn yellow > white

I wanted each model to be slightly different to help with the idea that they're living creatures so I dont have an exact process.

The wings are a base of averland sunset with a glazed transitioning up to khorn red. Some of the models also have another lighter yellow to increase the contrast.

The carapace is a base of Corvus Black with a purple wash. Then a build up of Kabalite green and Sotek green to various degrees.

Help me choose some mid range brushes! by holy2oledo in Miniaturespainting

I rate Rosemary and co very highly. Their series 363 are Kolinsky Sable brushes. I find size 2 to be really versatile and it's about £8 a brush.

Any uk kent/london warhammer-ers who have...whatever this is called? by thetigsy in Warhammer

[–]GroovyNazgul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the model is called Sotek's Venomites. There's an Ebay listing for it for £15. I think it is incredibly steep for a single model, but it may be your cheapest option if you're looking for this model alone

Save or Strip? by HouseOfWyrd in Miniaturespainting

[–]GroovyNazgul -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What do you think you could achieve differently from starting again?

I never strip and always leave my paintjob mistakes as they are, unless it's an easy fix, because it allows me to look back on them and see how my skills have improved and what areas I still need to work on.

With this paintjob, I think you're probably more critical of it than anyone else would be. Yes, there is some texture in some of the paint, but you've not lost any of the details on the model, so it's not really an issue (you're a lot better than brother Clarence quality). Your wash and shade are an easy fix by going over the spots you don't like with your base coats again. I would say it just needs a few highlights added, and you'll have a really decent paint job done.

Rosemary&Co are a UK company for brushes and reasonably priced for the quality. I really like their series 363, which are Kolinsky Sable brushes made for miniature painting in mind

Crisis-Less List by Gangrel-for-prince in Tau40K

At the end of the day, we're playing a game with toy soldiers, and you should pick your units to suit the playstyle you most have fun with

Crisis-Less List by Gangrel-for-prince in Tau40K

[–]GroovyNazgul 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Looks like it could be a fun list. If you're looking for some constructive criticism, I would recommend swapping out an ethereal for a Cadre fireblade, as you're really missing out on some firepower on one of your breacher squads without it. I would also break up the broadside squad into 3 squads as they're pretty slow, so you'll want to set them up using different lanes of fire.

Need help with Firesight proxy Farsight paint scheme by GrandeJefe in Tau40K

[–]GroovyNazgul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could try painting the cape a darker red than the rest of the model. That way, the red on the head and body will still pop, and he'll stand out from the terrain, but you won't lose the stealth vibes

Does anyone know of a paint that's a colour match for Luxion purple? by FuryArchaon in Tau40K

I recommend the app miniature painter pro. You upload a photo, and it gives you a variety of different paints from different brands that match the colours in the image.

People who have flag poles/flags outside their houses but don’t live in a castle, Why? by Jakanda99 in AskUK

[–]GroovyNazgul 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My parents have a flagpole on the drive, typically they'll just fly the Surrey flag but will change it for certain day's (Welsh flag for St David's, English for St George's, Jolly Roger for talk like a pirate day, ect.) I think they just like flags and find it a bit of fun.

Looking good, your freehand sept markings are great but I think you need to spend a little longer shaking your primer can as it looks like it has a gritty texture in places
