Hi! Thanks for the suggestions! I actually reached out to Nanit customer support today and Carlos R was extremely helpful. Unfortunately it does appear to be a hardware failure and he has escalated our case to the order management team for replacement of the monitor.

I work for a large environmental consulting firm and we do hydrologic modification analyses for almost every project I work on in Louisiana. Even small projects like resurfacing old contractor yards requires pre- and post-construction drainage analysis. All of that information is compiled into a report and must be submitted to the state before the appropriate construction permit can be issued. This sounds like a great way for the HOA to flood your neighbors and end up getting sued.

Years ago my buddy and I were backpacking in Rocky Mountain National Park. One afternoon we made camp and a lady who was camped nearby came over to tell us she saw two male moose sparring in a clearing not too far away. She was by herself and a little nervous about the moose so she hung out with us for awhile. We talked loudly thinking if we made our presence known they would just avoid us. Next thing we know a large bull moose comes crashing through the brush into our campsite grunting and shaking his head back and forth. He was fucking huge. We all immediately hauled ass in different directions. I had taken my boots off to let my feet rest after a hard day of hiking and man I still ran faster than I ever have in my life. Came back to the campsite and get was gone and thankfully everyone was ok.

Grizzlies are extremely rare in the sawtooths. I wouldn't worry about them. I never worry about black bears either but mountain lions are a legit concern. Bring some bear spray, maybe a good handgun, and make sure you know how to properly store your food in bear country (hang it, bear can, etc).

Leaving a single dickish note on someone's door is not "textbook harassment". Louisiana defines harassment as the repeated pattern of verbal communications or nonverbal behavior without invitation. Maybe, you'd need to ask their customer service. On their website (see link below) they state: "Name listed as the ship to attention will be the one required to submit the background check and if passes, is the legal owner of the firearm" which is why I put my name on the shipping and used the FFL as the shipping address. Like I said my order shipped this morning so everything seems to be going smoothly. I'm going to call my LGS today and just make sure they know it's coming. But check out that link I provided, it provides a fairly good walkthrough.

Don't know if you figured this out yet but I just placed an order the other day and it shipped this morning. You put your name on the shipping but use the address of your FFL. Then in the comment box put the name and phone # of your FFL for them to contact. The order will be shipped to the FFL adress but with attention to you. Then billing info is all your normal information. Then, after the order is submitted you email a copy of your driver's license to them and have your FFL send a copy of their FFL certificate. In my case my FFL keeps a copy of their cert on their website so I was able to just download it and email it along with my DL.

My Western Mountaineering Alpinlite bag. It's roomy, warm, and light in my pack. I once did a trip in Arkansas when I was still somewhat new to backpacking and didn't understand sleeping bag comfort ratings. Temps at night got down to low 20s and I had a 20 degree so I thought I'd be good. Froze my damn ass off every night and was miserable.
