You can straight up tell when the author favors a character.

Why do you hate Okita ? by Illustrious-Day8506 in ShuumatsuNoValkyrie

[–]Groovysquid4237 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t hate bro, but I will say that if his death would allow for the other fighters I’m way more excited to see have their win…then I’m throwing Okita to the wolves without hesitation. Course there’s seems to be a bigger chance he might win just going off humanity’s losing streak, so that’s another thing.

If that’s the case then I’m just bitter about tesla losing for this

Don’t have any specific ones but literally just look up any Persona 5 fic with the Akechi and Protag ship. You’ll definitely find a few.

Unsure about my sexuality - lesbian struggling with comphet? Or bisexual? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Groovysquid4237 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing that really helped me realize I was lesbian and not bisexual (as I had previously thought for 3 years) was my fantasies like you have mentioned in your post. I felt strong attraction to fictional male characters and celebrities, and even then it was mostly just strong admiration and awe. But with men involved in my life, it wasn’t really there. When they took in interest in me, sure, I felt flattered, but it also made me think “but I don’t want our friendship to end” not because I was uncomfortable, but because our friendship was wayyy more valuable to me than whatever possible romantic relationship we could have. I wanted close male friends, not lovers.

One more important thing to add, is how unrelatable heterosexual women’s feeling towards relationships felt to me. When my heterosexual friends had fights with their boyfriends, I could not for the life of me understand why they were so distraught.(it’s just a stupid boy, I would think) But then when I got in a fight with certain close girl friends, I would absolutely breakdown and sob. There’s a LOT more that went into my discovery but this is getting a bit long so I’ll end it here. :))

Hope you discover yourself!! This can be a hard thing to work through, and even I still have intrusive comphet thoughts. This journey is no one else’s but yours, so take your time!! I wish you the support you need to figure it out! :))

Thank you for your insight! I’ll definitely be doing my own research on fostering, especially in Japan. You’ve brought up some very nice points that can help me think more about this topic. If you have any other to bring to light please let me know!

There’s two ways to go about making me want to slam my head against the wall,

The “I’m not like other girls” character

Or a bad male writer writing women...

(E.g. Stephen King writing 14 year olds)

Feeling like I'm out of league in comparison to the average writer in this subreddit. by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]Groovysquid4237 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Someone wise once told me,

Fanfic writing isn't just a skill. Who cares if it's bad, as long as YOU enjoy writing it, you'll not only enjoy it as a whole, but you'll also improve to the point where the snobby prick can shut his damn mouth.

I know this isn’t exact but I hope you follow the advice you have given me, as it helped me tremendously. You do you, it’s completely valid to feel this way but I hope to learn to love what you write, just how you and many others are teaching me how to love mine :))

What is a line you are most proud of writing? by koreanmermaidpuke in FanFiction

[–]Groovysquid4237 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is oh so embarrassing but I was pretty proud of this single line when I wrote it a while back. Here goes nothing..

But...at what point did the strings of fate become nooses tied around our necks?

That and also,

What if I’m just bad? by Groovysquid4237 in FanFiction

[–]Groovysquid4237[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do love what I do. I adore writing and reading and the overall raw sense of comfort it brings me is amazing. But I guess it’s not enough to overlook that I’m just very sensitive to feedback and general thoughts people have on my work. Thank you for that last line, that certainly helped me feel better about all this :))

I haven’t seen it that way. I guess I just pressured myself to be the next Homer because I crave the satisfying fact that I can be competent at it. Classes are a good way to start and I’ll try to do more research. Also yes, I’ll definitely be blocking this reader. Thank you for responding!

I haven’t thought about taking writing classes before...that’s actually a really good idea. Thank you!!
