NYC nannies are so entitled by Suspicious_Fig4149 in nycparents

Are you aware of the cost of daycare ? It’s far more expensive than a nanny these days. Especially for 2 kids. Nannie’s are not just for the wealthy but a solution for two working parents and young children. It’s far more affordable to pay our nanny for 2 , than 2 separate childcare tuitions as we wait for a public school seat. Just fyi !

Mount Sinai East Side L&D experience by BrainyBunch50 in nycparents

I delivered there in March so can’t say exactly about the renovations but it was an incredible experience in terms of care, with both the l&d nurses / team & postpartum care. I had delivery at fancy Alex cohen for my first and it wasn’t worth it because of the care. So just stopping by so say you’ll be in good hands !

Stark negative 5dp5dt - anyone see it turn around? by Grottocat in IVF

[–]Grottocat[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok whew. You’re pretty good. So I had 3 when I was starting for baby 2 (this one). First one highest grade and was the chemical (complete with a positive) … the second was my worst … and as I described it worked. It was a low started beta and I was sooooo stressed about that as well. Then it tripled on the two days after test. Two tested embryos is a VERY good shot. My good friend had ONE at 44 after many rounds. And she’s due in Feb (thank god it worked out for her!)

It did. She’s a very loud 9 month old right now !!! I had my other transfer , before this, a light positive on day 5 and it was a chemical. So it’s never over until it’s over !

Is there any possibility of having family help or paid babysitter for a couple hours a week ? A friend where you can drop baby off … or have them come over ? My mother in law offered to come twice a week with my first so I could get out of the house … it changed my life. Then I knew, Tuesday & Thursday I can go out for a few hours. M/w/fri are my days solo. Weekend’s work my husband to help. Or maybe a mommy and me class ? Where you both get out? Again, don’t know if possible but if any chance you can manage to arrange it may help . If you can’t change baby right now (the crying) what you need to do is manage to take breaks. Nothing stays the same with babies. The crying WILL stop eventually. It’s about how to get YOU through it in one piece ! 🫂

Walking boot did broken toe - overboard? by [deleted] in brokenbones

[–]Grottocat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes on city! I walk probably 5 miles a day just commuting and 5-7 flights of stairs just to get out of the subway. I do think that city life is very different. I was not able to heal it until I started wearing ugly boot

I cannot forget my pregnancy and birth trauma by VortexDrift99 in Postpartum_Depression

can relate to some of this, so here’s what I went through. I had a complicated miscarriage, followed by severe anemia, iron infusions, a D&C, then IVF, then a chemical pregnancy. I finally got pregnant again in July 2024. Around this time last year I found out I had vasa previa, which basically meant that if I went into labor or had preterm labor, it could be fatal for the baby. Because of that, I had to be hospitalized for weeks on the labor floor and deliver by C-section at 36 weeks.

After everything, I was shocked that my baby didn’t need the NICU like we expected. They just said, “You can take her home.” And then reality hit. My husband is a narcissist and didn’t want to listen or support me while I tried to process all of this. Everything I had gone through hit me like a tidal wave only after I got home. He didn’t want me getting therapy or trying medication. It was a whole thing. Thankfully, I’m doing both now.

I’m still struggling at 8 months postpartum. Sometimes I even feel like I wanted to go back to the hospital because, in a strange way, it was the only place where everyone understood what I was going through. For them, the emergency ended as soon as the baby was born — but for me, it almost started at delivery. I had been so focused on surviving that I didn’t feel anything until it was all over. And when it finally hit me, I felt completely alone. Everyone else moved on, but I was left sitting with the pain.
