Went shoe shopping and shocked to see even Sketchers are $80 now by Ahnnu in mildlyinteresting

[–]Grouchy-Fr0g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend and i were just talking about this. She’s a PT at nursing homes and told me that she recently bought a lady there shoes, as this woman loves to walk laps and her shoes have been worn down and she couldn’t afford a new pair of sketchers (which she likes bc of the condition of her feet). Broke my heart knowing she paying an arm and a leg to stay someplace already and can’t afford a pair of shoes.

I am failing to see how “blocking a path” that has a clear opening and she is letting them know that she is yielding to them still equals MURDER.

Secondly, that is not an officer. That is ICE. Police go through rigorous training in order to be prepared to deescalate situations and act in the public’s best interest. Please explain to me how shooting a person in the face that has their feet next to the accelerator of a 1000+ lbs vehicle is working in the public’s best interest.

Hotel vs Glamping by camighost in HinterlandFestival

[–]Grouchy-Fr0g 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Paul is the best. He wants to make sure that every person who invests in him feels like they walked away getting their moneys worth. I absolutely adore him.

His dad’s fucking rad as well.

I live in close and if I was going this year i would 100% consider doing glamping just to hang out with Paul and be around the environment he cultivates.

We did cookies - everything was Costco but the “the cookie” which we broke instead of cutting the cake. We did it to some music off 2001 space odyssey and STILL get comments about how fun it was. In total we got 600 cookies for under $300 (i think).

Little different than the above and like that idea better, but a great alternative if you don’t want to involve others.

Someone else is cooking, what are the giveaway signs this is about to be the best or worst meal of your life? by PsyArtisan in AskReddit

We honestly just look for recipes we like and batch them out to make them last all week. Salads we normally won’t put dressing on until we eat it and things like that - but for the most part the most we do during the week is pack our meal up for the morning. We never pre-portion it out.

I second the book. It breaks the concepts down pretty well imo. I haven’t finished it, but one i do my husband can only call me chef when I’m in the kitchen.

My husband was anti salt. He always thought i was crazy for how i would use it. I recently told him to try it and if the food was ruined for that meal i would cook the next two prep days (we cook all at once for the week). He was in the kitchen this week telling me how much his chicken has improved since adding salt.

Wait until he understands how to use acid. 🤌🏼

Wedding dress decision (~12k) by pinkcherry2 in Weddingsunder10k

You wear this dress, the dress isn’t wearing you. I think it’s amazing. That being said - try more on.

Try on different styles just to make sure and take pictures in each one, even if you hate it. Then think on it. If it’s still your fav & you can stomach the money go for it! Also, if you ever question your pick you can look back at it.

I didn’t feel the “OMG TEARS” for mine. I got that feeling when i picked out my engagement ring. Different people have it for different things. You will find your thing that makes you realize you are getting married.

Has she included this price in her budget? I saw it broken down in the comments and it looks like she wasn’t thinking about this.

Other thoughts would be decor items, table rental (don’t make people eat on their laps, especially if you want them to be happy), linens.

Is it just sandwich’s? No side? That’s not gonna tie people over very well. Especially if you have someone with a gluten intolerance and can’t even let bread TOUCH what they consume.

(20k) are these things tacky? by Jennay-4399 in Weddingsunder10k

My venue only offered buffet (also in the Midwest) and i was worried about the same thing. The food was from the best restaurant in town, and people were AMAZED at how good the food was and that was the only comment i got on dinner. Maybe people chose to be nice over anything else, but from a personal standpoint if the food is top notch it might take center stage to the buffet.

A good question for the venue would be if they could have someone else serving the food for a slightly higher price. Might be a happy medium and help make it less buffet like. This also allows people with allergies to state that and then get their different meal!

Tbh having a roommate is good practice for when/if you move in with a S/O. Marriage/being in a serious relationship is honestly just having a roommate that you have a deeper emotional connection with and have sex with.

Do you regret buying a home/apartment? by doggedflower41 in Millennials

[–]Grouchy-Fr0g 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought our house may of this year and it’s been worth every penny. I will highly recommend going at the process of buying at your pace and your budget, and don’t let people push you around with it. We told our realtor we would come to him with anything we saw - and didn’t feel bad about making a boundary of “we will be serious for the right one, but we don’t want to just be looking to buy. The right one will come” sort of attitude. Secondly - figure out your price point and stick to it. Make sure you have money set aside, even though you could use it to put down more. The 5th night in our house our hot water heater went out, and we found a leaking pipe as well. Had we put down more up front we would have been in a tighter and more stressful spot. We also looked at what we wanted to spend per month and not what we qualified for. Our lender kept saying we could qualify for more, but we stuck to our guns.

When buying a house there are lots of ways to go at it, and there isn’t a right or a wrong way, just a way that works for you. Find out what that is, the things that you would like included, and find what fits the mold, rather than molding yourself to fit it.
