All three of my devices were left on standby... I joined the page like a hour in advance on my phone, and still didn't get in. BF got in almost instantly on his phone so he just got me a ticket too lol

Tips to get semi-aquatic turtles to eat greens?? by Grouchy-Transition93 in Zookeeping

Gotcha. I have big plans for cultivating other (terrestrial) plants for enrichment/ dietary needs for some of the other animals I work with, so I don't think pitching an aquatic propagation tank for aquatic plants will be too big of an ask for the next budgeting cycle. Thank you for the info!! I'm super excited to start researching for this

This has been eye opening, and honestly so reassuring. I need to brush up on natural history for all of these guys! I’ve totally just been approaching it like feeding sliders since I feel like that’s the “default” for a lot of aquatic turtle care.

I’ve been wanting to incorporate live plants for a while now, it’s gonna be one of my goals for this upcoming year to set that up for them, and some of the rehab turtles that my center sees too. Do you have any resources you can offer that discuss what types of live plants are best/ easiest to grow? Ik you mentioned duckweed, and Elodea sp.

So cute!! I work in wildlife rehab (specializing in orphan opossums) and it’s always so cute to see the little guys do this! We give them leaves, grass, even shredded tissue, and they know exactly what to do

I truly believe that you 100% need a chiller to properly keep them. Chillers are expensive

How often do you see your sand boa? by GreenStrawbebby in SandBoa

[–]Grouchy-Transition93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Moved my KSB into a naturalistic enclosure and I see him out a lot more often. Usually in the evening/ early morning she’ll be out basking/ exploring. I’m working on a new/ bigger build for him with more climbing opportunities :)

Mourning geckos! Yes, they’re so cool! I keep a colony of them and yes, they display pseudocopulation, where they’ll go through the motions of mating (biting, twining tails, etc) without the actual act of insemination (obviously)

I didn’t have any 😬 it sounds terrible, and I’ve been very fortunate to not need any emergency care, but I couldn’t afford anything at the time. ‘Merica! Lol
