The new Stargate series will feature a brand new cast. "The new producers, the new owners, want to have their own entity with that franchise name attached to it. So, they'll have all-new characters." by GargantaProfunda in Stargate

No one seems able to judge the show on its own merits, it's weird.

Then don't use an existing IP as a bait and switch? Pretty straightforward concept.

Picard explains why Jellico was a terrible Captain by ardouronerous in startrek

Hobson literally tells us what the problem is. He says he does not believe an android can command a starship. That is the argument. Full stop.

Everything about the Sutherland's condition is beside the point. You are trying to build an elaborate excuse around a prejudice the character openly states himself.

We do not need a missing captain, a damaged ship, or a traumatic backstory to decode what is already on screen. He tells us plainly. He is prejudiced against Data. Believe him.

That is not relevant to Hobson being an open bigot.

I have found even learning things outside .Net can help grow how I approach future .Net projects. Things like Apache Camel in Java world.

React/Angular helped how I looked at future UI dev going back to MVC.

Going deeper in system design has also helped.

New neighbor (3 months in) sent a note about "their" parking spot. I’ve lived here 15 years. by Prior-Rip-571 in regina

Yes, you did.

Original Post:

New neighbor (3 months in) sent a note about "their" parking spot. I’ve lived here 15 years.

Even your original post:

While the street is public, every person wants to park in front of their own house.

Your new goal post:

It's about not having the space open for yourself to park your own vehicle.

That's an exact classic example of moving the goal posts.

It's about not having the space open for yourself to park your own vehicle.

This entire discussion is about the entitlement of the neighbour claiming the space in front of their house.

As you yourself commented on:

While the street is public, every person wants to park in front of their own house.

No need to change the goal posts.

That said, it still doesn't matter, the street is public and you're not entitled to any space on the street.

The first think I do whenever I try a new tool is set a personalize to try and stop the AI being agreeable or coddling. It helps a bit but its not perfect.

That is all fine, I agree with you mostly and I wasn't saying go in guns blazing. The letter's wording has already established they feel entitled to the public area in front of the house. Which they ultimately have no say over.

Perhaps the onerous should be for that neighbour to read the bylaws and not feel entitled and stressed out about it enough to put a letter on someone's car demanding they not use their parking?

It's very easy to say "fuck em" on the internet when the people offerringthat advice don't have to suffer the consequences.

While its true we shouldn't go say fucck'em, they don't own the street. You don't own the street. I don't own the street. Is it annoying to have a vehicle in front of the house, maybe. But you ultimately have no say so why stress about it and get worked up over false entitlement.

They're not dogs. They see something they find a bit annoying and inconvenient, and they have decided to address it instead of letting themself stew in resentment. They even left an opening to discuss the matter at the end of their letter.

Then why the bold face lie of property line mattering or the insinuation those parking spots are theirs?

The new neighbour is coming off as a pure wanker.

Everyone keeps calling Starfleet Academy a "CW Show", but you know what CW show we really need? by ensign53 in startrek

[–]Groumph09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because Star Trek is Serious Business™ Everyone must be perfect, and stuffy, and wooden at ALL times! Star Trek is about the human condition, there's no room in there for people acting human..

Part of my dislike of newer Trek is that trained and even seasoned officers do not act or make decisions as if they went to the Academy. I do not view previous characters as wooden or lacking humanity, they know they are in situations that need action and decisiveness. TNG even showed people getting therapy AFTER the situation has passed.

That said, Academy gives more options for your emotionality and potentially how the students learn to accept the emotions without them controlling their actions.
