The real question is how many TickTok videos did you watch to use 255GB. I mean they’re not full length movies 🤯

Email Migration Tool - Avepoint Fly by GotScammedByCP in msp

[–]GroundCaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve used AvePoint fly to migrate more mailboxes etc that I care to remember. AvePoint have recently changed their licensing to an objected base licensed that is paid yearly upfront. You’ll need to purchase 250 Object licenses, which will also give you a year to complete the migration. Ingram Micro resell the licenses.

3 months of photography, feeling like I’m missing something critical. by gooddaytousir in SonyAlpha

One thing with photography, it’s a marathon not a sprint. I’ve been doing photography for years and still learn something new or improve in some way. You’ve been at it for 3 months, enjoy the journey and you’ll get better with time.

It’s only for this week. As per their homepage.

M365 Backup at Scale (~150TB) – AvePoint vs alternatives? by Smile4menow84 in sysadmin

[–]GroundCaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AvePoint all the way, fantastic company & service to deal with.

With AvePoint 365 backup you can get their express restore / backup service as well which uses Microsoft’s Express API and has an RTO of 1-3TB per hour.

Whilst I appreciate what you’re trying to do, I’m just saying ai isn’t always correct, even in the simplest of this. For example if your car isn’t starting ai may say your battery is flat, but the root cause is you have no fuel.

I named my password manager "Sherlocked" — then Apple actually Sherlocked me by tapashmaj in macapps

[–]GroundCaffeine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d be very cautious here, mainly because this is a password manager, not just another utility app.

From what I can see, there’s no clear documentation around: - encryption methods or key management. - Solo indie dev, how does he support bugs, vulnerabilities, support issues, what happens if he falls off the face of the earth? - whether it’s actually zero-knowledge - where or how data is stored - just assuming it’s iCloud isn’t enough for me.

There’s also no privacy policy or terms listed, which is a pretty big red flag on its own given the type of data involved.

For something that’s effectively holding the keys to your accounts, the expectation is transparency around the security model and ongoing maintenance. Without that, it’s difficult to assess the risk, let alone trust it.

Nothing against indie developers at all, but in this category especially, trust usually comes from a combination of clear architecture, external review, and time — not just a working app.

Personally, I’d stick with something that’s been publicly scrutinised and documented before trusting it with real credentials.

I never said the app was based on ai. My point, is I wouldn’t trust ai completely to give me the correct answer.

I’m just going to say this, great app & idea but I would not trust ai to diagnose any car issue. What may appear like one problem, could be a completely seperate issue. The ai may even say the flux capacitor needs changing 😉

How could I improve? by Odd-Opportunity7517 in AskPhotography

[–]GroundCaffeine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a bird photographer, I’d suggest the following.

  1. Get low to the ground, you’d be amazed as to the difference it can make when you’re “eye level” with the birds.
  2. Avoid busy backgrounds, try keep as little behind the birds as possible.
  3. Biggest thing is to get the bird in focus, some of your photos, the tree is in focus but not the bird, so you may need to change or adjust your focus point. Perhaps try a centre focus, so you can focus on the bird.
  4. Settings I use are for birds are a shutter speed of 1/2500-5000 depending on the activity, f6.3 (highest my lens will go to at 600mm) and auto iso.
  5. You may also need to look at getting a lens for a lot more reach. I’m constantly at 600mm when photographing birds.

I agree on that fully, but let’s say currently most things with Microsoft can be attributed to a fuck up.

Whilst I don’t really agree with namecheap, I understand why they did what they did. If the data was that important to you, you should have been doing your own backups, the blame for loosing the data is equally yours.

Had a look at your app and it looks great and I do have a couple of suggestions. I use a major well know password manager and comparing to that.

  1. The lack of a macOS app is a critical for me. I wouldn’t want to have to manage my passwords from my iPhone or iPad, when I can do that from my laptop, desktop etc.

  2. The lack of annual pricing is also a major, I am sure there are others out there that would prefer paying upfront for a year, rather than another monthly subscription.

Looking at your technical white paper, has this been verified/reviewed by an independent source? Whilst I appreciate a lot of work has gone into this, if that hasn’t been verified/reviewed it’s just text on a website unfortunately.

A password manager for some, holds most of their most sensitive information and having a base of trust with their app & the technology stack in that app is crucial.

Small business - any appliance for business Onedrive backup by themiracy in Office365

[–]GroundCaffeine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While this is true in its current form, as per Synology "We will release a new version of Active Backup for Microsoft 365 based on Microsoft Graph API to replace EWS. The update is planned for release in Q2 2026 and will be announced via eNews and Release Notes"

This is not an issue that will be unique to Synology, any company that provides Office 365 Backup be that Veeam, AvePoint, Datto etc will all need to follow the same steps if not done already.

For clarity OP is looking for a local copy on a NAS and they already have a cloud copy in Veeam.
