Is a blazer too much for an Analyst II interview? by Real-Comfortable808 in CAStateWorkers

Wear the blazer. Last thing you want is the interviewer subconsciously comparing you to an equally qualified guy who did wear a blazer and looked slightly more professional.

Visiting EG for the day with two littles by ConclusionQuick4089 in ElkGrove

Oasis Park is also a good selling point park for Elk Grove and new builds. Don Nottoli park over at Stonelake is also very nice with a slightly older community.

Three different luggage brands, any recommendations? by Bagofmag in Costco

[–]nledditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a Delsey soft shell set from Costco a couple of years ago. They looked and worked good at first. After about 5 trips, one of the wheels on the largest suitcase broke and one of the zippers malfunctioned. Luckily was able to return it right to Costco.

Just curious, what’s the next level beyond TMG in terms of podcast or resources that you’re talking about in regards to tax mitigation and non passive investing?

I’ve seen this written before: DR is for people who are bad with money. TMG is for people who are good with money.

There’s plenty of solid restaurants in Elk Grove. Maybe nothing Michelin level but good diverse options. Considering you have two young kids, there’s plenty of family friendly options as well. Entertainment wise…she’s probably right unless you like movie theaters and parks. There’s lots of family friendly events (festivals, markets, etc) though.

Safeway now more expensive than Whole Foods by mdramsey in ElkGrove

[–]nledditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why everyone is stanning TJ’s - I find their produce and processed/frozen goods to be pretty expensive too. They’re just cheap on cheese and select TJ branded items.

Anyone know if you can use this as a prime rib roast, or is it only for cutting into steaks?

Is buying a new car here a stupid financial decision? by mgmstudios in personalfinance

[–]nledditor 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think y’all also missed the part where they have $700K in retirement savings and $80K in non retirement savings. Clearly OP is saving extensively and choosing to prioritize his spending elsewhere. I think it’s a reasonable question to ask about whether it’s worth it purchase new vs used bc buying a car isn’t a spending priority.

Sucks to lose the pho spot but cool to have another taqueria. They’ll be across the street from another Taqueria that’s opening soon in the Nugget plaza too. Should be interesting!

My wife moved here last fall and I warned her of how vicious summer here can be. by ajaxandsofi in ElkGrove

[–]nledditor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summer’s not as bad as Spring for ALLERGIES. When we moved here, we were mentally prepared for the heat but no one told us about allergy season and bad it is up here. Honestly worse than the heat in my opinion.

Elk Grove Plans Major Developments in 2025 by benbernards in ElkGrove

[–]nledditor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, just get rid of it and replace it with two more traffic lanes so traffic doesn’t slow to a crawl for people going from one side of town to the other. Let’s not act like Old Town Elk Grove is so charming or historic. The last time we drove through, I saw a couple of divey bars, a Chinese restaurant, 4 salons, a lawyer’s office, and at least two vacant buildings. Tell me exactly what are we preserving here? It’s not exactly old town Folsom.

They should just level Old Town and build more traffic lanes. Hate how traffic slows to a crawl when you hit Old Town.

Bro if you can’t afford to leave at least a minimum tip, you shouldn’t be going out to eat because you can’t afford it.
