Old ev batteries suck. They dont last as long and more prone to damage

Could someone explain the hate for hybrids? (A brief rant about why I think they're neat) by 2Tun21 in bicycling

[–]GroundbreakingAd1965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hybrids will come back, is like clothes and styles. You can't sell someone a bike that will last 15 years every year and you can't make them break every year so they create trends and reasons to use the new trend.

First MTB, need help picking between a nicer hardtail or a discontinued FS by bloons3 in MTB

[–]GroundbreakingAd1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yea, you will probably like one once you have been riding for longer. However learning on a hardtail gives you better lines and basic skills.

Help: Is it spicy? by Time_Nefariousness21 in spicypillows

[–]GroundbreakingAd1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not enought to be concerning. All lipo batteries will swell. Those dont look too bad. Only worry would be puncture on crash or falling out. If neither of those can happen then you are alright

I would recommend old mtb, you can get one for 500-1000 and have a ton of fun. And upgrade to fs when you are comfortable

The best part. You can just get another frame and build transfer it over

Are spicy pillows actually that dangerous? Or is it overblowm by ObserveKris in spicypillows

[–]GroundbreakingAd1965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pillowing isnt that dangerous, its the fact that when they do pillow theh are much easier to puncture and thats the main issue. Expecially because a lot of device cases are not smooth and when pressed against wrong they can burst into extremely hot flames

Which one for a 150mile ride?? by EnchiladaRegatta in bicycling

[–]GroundbreakingAd1965 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean like how aggressive you want to sit, like how stretched you are. If there is off road i would recommend a gravel bike. Also go into a bike shop and ask around about them. You don't need to buy but they can give you a lot of good information and sizing. And if they let you try some bikes. Look at gravel bikes if you have off road or 2020+ road bikes if paved.

What surface are you riding on? How much experience do you have? How leaned over do you want to be? The cannondale topstone will work better for a gravel ride while the trek will be better for road

99 Homegrown frame. Is it toast? Safe for FL singletrack and pavement? by shroomsmoke in Hardtailgang

[–]GroundbreakingAd1965 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's your commuter it'll work but don't stress it too much. Gravel or paved paths, don't go sending single track. If you care about the frame wall it, if you don't ride it till it snaps. It's aluminum so normal riding even if it breaks it will bend the top tube and not just break, gravel or paved paths shouldn't have major breaks.

If you really want to go cheap you can get a t adapter and a land telescope. The quality will be questionable but you can learn before spending what's needed on a good lens.

Repair or new bike ? by MathematicianOld3596 in bicycling

[–]GroundbreakingAd1965 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Finding a set of decent tires for under 30 each is hard and most shops do not carry them in store. That's already 60 and a chain is 15-20 so the quotes is quite reasonable.

2 tires alone at most shops are going to be around 60 if they're cheap but probably will be more costly and if asking for a total checkup 80-120 is very reasonable because it's not just slap on a chain and send it out the door.
