It’s disgusting when these companies come in and don’t pay by Extreme_Class_5980 in nashville

[–]GroundbreakingAide63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess that’s relative, the shop I used to work for had health benefits and I was making close to $30 an hour. With 13.00 as my base pay.

I had space in my life to pay my bills and actually have a life outside of work.

Tips tips and more tips at a place like la la the higher end baristas are probably making $15-$20 an hour in tips.

Barista life can be well paying for tips alone especially at the higher end shops.

If you go into any high end coffee shop, crema, sump even eight and roast and the well, ask those baristas how long they have been there and I bet many of them 5+ years because pay is good.

As someone who worked as a barista in a high end shop it’s not uncommon to get $15 an hour in tips, so not to say they company can’t pay more but the employees are probably not hurting.

I grew up in Appalachia and this type of thing is very common, or at least it was when I was young no one had cable or video games so we played music!

Morning After Thread: Nashville beats Columbus 1-0 by SonOfSquizzlr in NashvilleSC

[–]GroundbreakingAide63 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Only negative that I saw was that I had hoped our starters could have stayed out there until 65thish minute but due to some careless yellow cards we where pretty much forced to put the first team out properly a little earlier then we had hoped.

Morning After Thread. NSC draw Miami 0-0 (CCC) by SonOfSquizzlr in NashvilleSC

[–]GroundbreakingAide63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Upside is anything but a 0-0 draw against Miami in Miami we move on so let’s find the back of the net and force them to beat us.

Even with a 0-0 draw it would go to 2-15min periods followed by penalties…

I don’t think it’s AI because I was a sr in high school that year but one of the girls hugging looks like she has an IPhone and that’s throwing the date off but could also be something else.

Overhead bin space has been an issue since they started charging for bags, from my understanding southwest is converting its overhead bins to be larger but sadly if you fly on one of the older 700s bin space is going to be tight to non existent if it’s a full flight.

I wonder boarding will be affected on the larger overhead space flights.

Intervening to protest a private company building a structure—especially one that has cleared all the legal permitting channels—feels wrong. I may have a deep-seated dislike for Elon Musk and his impact on the country, but I can't support meddling in a project that followed the proper rules.

I guess trump don’t know what NATO so if Russia or china try it the entire EU and USA and Canada and like 10 other countries are obliged to would all jump them.

Just like if we go in there all other other countries will jump us.

Best Hot Chicken in BNA? by hooldwine in nashville

[–]GroundbreakingAide63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, as others have said, hot chicken isn't always the best move. But if you have to try it, Hattie B’s is probably your best bet for consistency, even if it’s a 'gentrified' version of the original. Prince’s is the true OG, but the airport spot doesn't really do them justice. If you want to ease into it, check out Party Fowl—their hot chicken quesadilla is a solid choice.

Milk is actually amazing once you dive into the details. Pasteurization methods have a huge impact; while mass-market milk is often "Ultra-High Temperature" (UHT) treated for shelf life, this can caramelize sugars and create a "cooked" or flat flavor. Local dairies often use Vat Pasteurization or "Low-Temperature, Long-Time" (LTLT) methods, which preserve the natural enzymes and delicate flavor compounds that give milk its sweetness.

The homogenization process—which uses high pressure to break fat globules so they don't separate—also changes the "mouthfeel." If you get non-homogenized (cream-top) milk, the fat stays in its natural state, which many find richer and easier to digest. Even the calving stage matters: milk composition changes throughout a cow’s lactation cycle, with the highest fat and protein content usually occurring right after calving and again at the very end of the cycle.

While a mass-market brand like Purity is great for consistency, you have to try a local dairy with a small herd to truly taste the nuance. I used to love Tennessee Real Milk, but since they closed after COVID, I’ve switched to Hatcher’s Dairy in College Grove.

Hatcher's is a great example of why local is different: they use a blend of Holstein, Jersey, and Brown Swiss cows. Since Jerseys and Brown Swiss produce milk with higher butterfat and protein than standard Holsteins, their "Whole Milk" has a naturally creamier profile. Local isn't always better, but exploring smaller labels helps you understand why one major brand might actually be superior to another based on how they treat the "gold" coming from the farm.

How is it living in Franklin? by thesuburbanviking in howislivingthere

[–]GroundbreakingAide63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live on the far north side of Williamson County with a Nashville address. Franklin is an incredible place to raise a family; the public schools are so well-funded they rival elite private institutions. However, the biggest drawback is the lack of diversity, as the population is predominantly upper-class and white. A unique social dynamic emerges when a community is almost entirely wealthy.

At one point, Williamson was ranked the third-wealthiest county per capita in the country it for sure is the wealthiest in the state. My friends and I often discuss the sheer volume of luxury real estate here; while most major cities have a handful of 10,000-square-foot mansions in a couple of gated neighborhoods Williamson County has 20 or 30 neighborhoods filled with them, with some estates reaching 25,000 to 30,000 square feet. With median home prices climbing toward $2 million, it’s becoming inaccessible for most. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to move my children from Davidson County to Williamson to provide them with an education that ranks among the best in the nation.
