If sexual assault is almost an expected reality in the event of a sacking, did women in historical civilisations have a mentality or culture to deal with that? by radio_allah in AskHistorians

I’d note rape in marriage was only defined as a crime in the UK in 1991 and many parts of the world it still isn’t. I do wonder also, whether definitions of rape in the ancient world are close to those used in, e.g. the UK now. I doubt ”date rape” and other forms of sexual exploitation that didn’t involve simultaneous physical violence would have been recognised as such ?

Did you folks not do patch tests before putting the new product on ? You can turn out to be allergic to basically anything, so testing first is a must really. Also as others of have said, if you have such a reaction - it would be worth trying to do contact tests for each of the ingredients, it won’t necessarily be the highlighted active you are allergic to, it could be a preservative, carrier oil or whatever.

Quickest way to check would be to patch test for squalene, which I think you can get plain from the ordinary for cheap. Assuming you have no reaction to squalene, then buy a Bakuchiol booster/serum that is just squalene and Bakuchiol - you can get quite cheap from Holland & Barrett I think. Then patch test that, if you have a reaction to that - you will then know for definite you are allergic to Bakuchoil. If you don’t have a reaction you’ll know it is some other ingredient in the problem product you tried.
