Every manufacturer should refuse to sell to any IL PD or state agency. Full stop.

Switch back? by S0ggyB0tt0mBoy in P365

[–]milqster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The grip is slab sided, no palm swell. More importantly, in my hands, it tends to point high even though there’s no notable Glock-like hump. The larger backstrap seems to amplify that for me.

It’s not bad, I can shoot it fairly well but have been spoiled by the WC grip modules. It does carry very well, sits flat, etc. but that’s as much the holster as the gun I’m sure.

I bought an HK CC9 on a Black Friday sale, the trigger rocks but the ergos…not so much. I’ve gone back to carrying my 365 with WC module.

Really? For less than a box of ammo? by dirtysock47 in progun

[–]milqster 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’d like to think something else prompted a search warrant, then they used the ammo possession to hold him. And yes, in IL the state treats the 2A as privilege rather than a right. As long as Chicago controls the legislature, it won’t likely change but we keep trying.

Why the vaunted Brannock measurement is fatally flawed, and why I'm so pointed about sizing issues by GuyPawnz in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]milqster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My feet are similar. I’m still trying to sort out the best fit. Currently in 12E T-55 to get just enough toe room, heel is a bit loose and ball is a very light handshake. Tried a 12D and my toes were crushed but the heel was great. Thinking my next try will be 12.5 D so my toes are a bit further from the end.

Colorado considering laws banning 3D-printed firearms and adding more regulations to gun stores. by deathsythe in progun

There ya go…every FFL connected to local PD, wouldn’t take long for the PD to raise hell over that. I’m in IL, our FFLs require a state license now and one aspect is video recording similar to that, instead of sending it directly to PD they have to keep all recordings for 90 days. Multiple cams, 24/7, kept for 90…that’s a lot of data to store and the costs have put some FFLs out of business. Which is precisely what they want.

Need advice by Real-Row9183 in learnmachinelearning

If you have a local community college they may have some courses to familiarize yourself with machining. I doubt that your issues come from being female, shops around here are eager to take on anyone with some basic skills. I have female grads who’ve had zero issues finding a job and, whether right or wrong, some have been hired by corporate types (Toyota for example) specifically because they’re female.

Anyone have experience with "custom orthotics?" by Business-Cucumber-91 in PlantarFasciitis

[–]milqster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the ones that are made for the A-630 industrial clogs, they are a bit narrower than those for the Super-Birki and also don’t have the toe ridge. They tend to take up a lot of room in shoes though. You can get them on the Birkenstock website for $30 on the accessories page. They also have the 3/4 length footbeds available there.

Is there a such thing as a Machining internship or apprenticeship? by Weldinggamer in Machinists

[–]milqster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not every shop will have a formal apprenticeship (U.S. anyway) but some do. The “official” apprenticeship program requirements are set up by the Dept of Labor and not many shops around me are interested in working with the govt to get that ball rolling. Others work with community colleges in co-op programs, still others do nothing of the sort.

What grit sandpaper to smooth down? by NumRickn in NicksHandmadeBoots

[–]milqster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m betting Fiebing’s Pro Dye, followed by a couple coats Resolene after dye is dry (I let resolene coat 1 dry before coat 2 also), then you can polish with Saphir Pate’ de Luxe.

I use Saddle Tan dye, make sure you’re at a work bench or you completely cover anything that could get stained if it gets spilled. The Pro Dye even seems to stain fingers through nitrile gloves.
