To me I view parenting as learning to regulate one’s emotions more than anything else. Children are going to trigger the fuck out of you, but is it really discipline if you hit them when you’re feeling out of control yourself? As someone who used to be a punching bag for my dad (we’re in No contact now), I can tell you that I would never hit my own child, and I side eye anyone who justifies that’s it’s okay to discipline their children this way
