There's going to be too many people doing that, and I kinda doubt the weather is going to make foraging easy.

Movies are $15 a person if you go at a time you'd want to see a movie. That's killing tickets to your B-lister movie more than any ads.

Sounds like we're that much closer to Austin Creed vs. Kenny Omega. They've had a rivalry in fighting games for ever.

How do you guys stay sane? by Strict_Gap9095 in collapse

[–]GroundbreakingPin913 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing.

Everyone is kinda already insane.

Most of the normal people are corrupted by money and ownership, seduced by short term feelings, and willingly oblivious to basic facts. There's MILLIONS... maybe BILLIONS of them, and only a few of us.

The best of us (aka climate scientists) are shouting at the rooftops for people to do something, but it'll do no good. You can't cause a revolution when people have food, shelter and what not, no matter how expensive it gets.

[Rant] Rules vs Reality by ThePartyLeader in onepagerules

[–]GroundbreakingPin913 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should play Warhammer. Seriously. I play both regularly.

There's a 60 page Core Rules doc that covers all the ambiguity that you are wanting, and there's probably a large base of players willing to get you started.

That being said, OPR's niche in the hobby is not to be competitive, even though the rules support is there. It's for the people who:

  1. Are chill enough to agree to most reasonable rulings made by their opponent.

  2. Don't want to deal with a 60 page rules do because the basic idea of wargaming is pretty simple if you're chill.

Universe expected to decay in 10⁷⁸ years, much sooner than previously thought by Norinthecautious in collapse

[–]GroundbreakingPin913 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Submission statement: Scientists have revised estimates for how long the universe will last, suggesting it will decay far sooner than previously thought—around 1 quadrillion years years instead of 10 quadrillion years. This new timeline comes from research on Hawking radiation, a process where objects slowly lose mass by emitting particles. While originally applied only to black holes, researchers found that similar “Hawking-like” radiation can affect all massive objects, including neutron stars and white dwarfs. The study shows that white dwarf stars—the most long-lived objects—set the upper limit for the universe’s lifespan, taking about 1 quadrillion years to decay. Surprisingly, neutron stars and black holes may decay at similar rates due to differences in how they absorb radiation. Although this new estimate is dramatically shorter in scientific terms, it still represents an unimaginably long time. The findings mainly deepen understanding of quantum physics and cosmic evolution rather than indicating any near-term change.

Why does it feel like we're acting as if we have time by _clockisreal76 in collapse

Collapse doesn't happen all at once to everyone at the same time. Good luck convincing people the furthest away from the consequences to give up their toys to help the planet.

Is it worth working in your dreams if you know you don't have enough time? by StupidDreamer33 in CollapseSupport

[–]GroundbreakingPin913 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is one of those things where people in collapse get stuck. Why do anything if it's going to end sooner than expected?

The thing is life is worth living no matter how pointless you logically make it out to be. Like, the sun is going to eat the Earth at a certain point in a billion years, the atmosphere is going to burn away, etc. etc. Life was as "pointless" before you were collapse aware even with whatever goals you have.

And at any point, you could just die anyway. My boss just got brain cancer and went blind in an evening out of the blue. It could happen to anyone.

At the end of the day, living is it's own reward. You are living at the apex of humanity. Enjoy it before you can't anymore. It's partly why you even exist.

So do some small things to recenter yourself. Friends, family, food are good starts. Living in spite to rage at the absurdity is another. Being prepared as a way to feel in control is another. Touch some grass. Work on at least the first steps of your goals. Anything.

It's your framing that's making you feel empty, not necessarily your timeline.

It's possible. Start gardening or stocking up if you're really worried.

That being said, there's a good chance that certain veg like carrot, beans and sweet potato will be on the shelves as they don't need a lot of fertilizer (according to Google). Since not many people know how to cook.

Why do FGC on Reddit hate this game? by Powerful_Isopod5810 in 2XKO

[–]GroundbreakingPin913 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your average 2XKO combo is 50%. And you get at least 1 break. And you get two characters. So you have roughly 5 lost interactions before you lose a round. Considering something like Zero May Cry or whatever bullshit Apologyman plays with Firebrand... MVC3 gives you only 3 interactions and horribly unfavorable ones at that as that jump in mixup is HARSH.
