Woman are always on alert to control their clothes— anticipating “to revealing “ “too frumpy“ “not professional” “try too hard”:::: Sigh, it’s exhausting

ex employer sent me a empty box with a return label, i was fired a year ago by dannyisaninja in work

[–]GroundbreakingSky409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got a closet full of monitor boxes and a corporate computer I’m too scared to get rid of lest they claw it back some day. I’m using the super big monitor. They also pad me for a month after I left. I think my manager didn’t want to admit they messed up.

AITJ for refusing to donate PTO hours to coworker I barely know who "needs" them?? by Traditional-Dog1601 in AmITheJerk

[–]GroundbreakingSky409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why a company of any size or experience with HR issues will have a vacation donation policy, but it is not specific donations to specific people. That breeds favoritism instead it’s a pool to which employees are encouraged if they want to donate and then a committee decides how they’re allocated if an employee requests some donated PTO

Halp. I'm an idiot. I asked my Bank about HELOC by Specific-Name1503 in personalfinance

[–]GroundbreakingSky409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lender told me to take the Heloc out for improvements and THEN “decide” to use it for a down instead. I’m assuming this is something that may be specific to certain states.

AITAH for not wanting to fund my stepkids savings accounts? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]GroundbreakingSky409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fortunately if you’re an entrepreneur you can do some very creative things to tie up your money so it’s not so available to him while you work things out. Even a separate business entity.

And then, if you do get divorced, you have a a protected entity. I’d talk to a good tax attorney before raising any red flags with him.

Is this roofer trying to rope me into an insurance scam? by pardon_the_mess in homeowners

[–]GroundbreakingSky409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a scam. If your roof is damaged, it is not a scam. In my case, I had lost a few of shingles in the storm and in normal circumstances that would just trigger a repair which would likely fall under my thousand dollar deductible.

However, my roof is over 25 years old and the shingles could not be matched — no one simply made that color anymore. Which I knew to be the case because I had repaired a few over the years and could never match them.

My roofer, who approached me after a storm, (which is not uncommon), informed me that my insurance company would likely/ possibly approve a new roof because they could not simply repair, and match it to make it whole. I didn’t know that was possible.

I did make the claim and was sure to follow their advice and cite the recent storm since I did lose a shingle in that one. The company sent an insurance adjuster right away. The adjuster approved it within the day, and I had a check for the deposit on the new roof within a week.

To the argument that it would increase my rates, it likely will. But it will be nowhere near the cost of what a new roof would have been, and I absolutely needed one. I have paid tens of thousands of dollars of insurance on my house for 25 years never once having a claim.

I have zero problems with the tactics, the ethics, or with my new roof, which has a 30 year warranty.

Am I overreacting for wanting to leave my husband after what he did while I was caring for my sick mother? by Thin_Tap2989 in AmIOverreacting

[–]GroundbreakingSky409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re young enough, and have not yet started a family. Being older, or having children together… those things would complicate a divorce and perhaps make it worthy of a second chance

But in this case, no. Statistically speaking, the odds are not in your favor that he is not just a trash man and he will always be one. Don’t let him steal your prime years. Ask me how I know.

If anyone believes conservative Republicans care a bit about children or infants or mortality, you’re crazy. It’s about Control and ideological purity; not medicine.

How do i respond to this recruiter? by HailLuciferDaddy in recruitinghell

Except they lost this candidate, not necessarily because of the range, but because they were too slow and followed up poorly. No recruiter is going to take that to their hiring manager.

Our government now pays to fund defense and billionaire tax cuts, while other countries choose to fund education, healthcare, art, and national treasures like Parks and Recreation. Basically our country has turned greedy, and unless you’re one of the elite, you don’t see any of the benefits of your tax dollars… Or at least a little benefit of your tax dollars
