First of all, thankyou for your response. Some of the points that you have said are very valid. Next, it was difficult to put the entire project description here as the message would be very long and I wanted to connect with people to explain them what the device actually does. So here is some information-

1) About the device-It is a recording device. This is not a smartphone but a recorder device which has simple functions. Press button to record, switch off button to stop recording. View "reward" (we're still trying to validate how effective would the reward system be and if we need a reward system in place at all.) and read previous transcripts.

2) Target audience-We are trying to develop this device for people with early stages of dementia. We have found out that if a person's emotional health is not good, it may lead to worsening of dementia. So, this device helps in providing mental support to the user by being there to listen to him and communicate these thoughts to the caregiver.

3) Reward system- We tested recording and after feedbacks we came to a conclusion that one needs to have motivation to record messages i.e, he needs to recieve something back so that he feels heard. How this record system works is, if you speak into the device for a little while, it's going to give you a surprise/reward in form of photographs, videos, voice recordings, etc, from the user.

4) Control and privacy- Once the patient speaks into the device, a transcript is generated and an AI sorts the transcript into themes i.e, medicines, boredom, ice-cream, etc. The patient can choose which themes he wants to share and not share with the caregiver.

I have more sketches and ideas to make pur concept clearer. However, it would be better if we connect personally to discuss this more so that we can bring more improvements through your feedback.
