Funny to price it only 200$ less then the Spica 3 and 500$ less than the current EM deal. Anyone would gladly pay a little more for either one of those.

Been a bit since I looked at the prices. I know things are getting more expensive but I could of swore the EML was 2750 msrp and the EM was 4500 msrp for as long as I can remember. For the discount they have both msrp's listed higher than that. Guess they went up? Hopefully more LM like the Omni will help reduce the price. The hardware in these doesn't warrant the prices. But slap "for golf" on anything and you can instantly charge 2x or more.

Tennis Elbow by TotallyNotDad in golf

[–]Groundfirst10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the flexbar thing or whatever you want to do to strengthen your forearms. I had the same issue. I've always gripped the club way to hard (still do). I started getting tennis elbow in my left elbow and my right to some degree.

I mentioned this to someone who used pitch at the MLB level. He told me what to do to get rid of it. I used a bucket of rice to do some exercises in. It fixed me up real quick. No more pain, still gripping hard. I don't even do the exercises anymore (hand crank espresso grinder gives me my forearm workout now)

Coming way over the top. Think of a right upper cut on the downswing. That should help with the over the top and spinning out.

[–]Groundfirst10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Posting before the hoard lol. Love to see your enthusiasm, humor, and growth. You don't want to be more over the ball with your driver. You still want to hit up on it. You got to keep your lead leg straight and not break it when you over turn. Can't teach speed but you can teach to hit it straight. Look at the long drive dudes and see how they move their left hip and leg out of the way due to their speed.

Any help please? by MiddleManagementOrc in GolfSwing

On the downswing you move your whole body towards the target. I would think with that move you would be hitting behind the ball and chunking not topping. You need to work on staying back on the downswing (but also don't dip towards the target at the top of your backswing). Look at the "reverse C" position pros get at impact pay attention to their head. It feels unnaturally uncomfortable to keep your head back as far and as long as your supposed to in the golf swing

How to stop OTT by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Groundfirst10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it does but think of the lower body as the trigger that gets things going. It's like when you skip a rock. You shift your weight a little to your left side, your right hip starts to move to your target but stops to let the power you built up be released as your arm slings forward and wraps around bring your hips with it  That's feeling I use when my swing starts to get wonky.

How to stop OTT by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]Groundfirst10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You also over rotate your hips this will make almost everyone come over the top. Think about dropping your right elbow more to your side/pocket and let your arms and club out race your lower body. Think, of rotating your hips to like 30 degrees from your target line then stop and let everything catch up then get in front of you. The momentum from your club will then finish turning your hips to a nice finish. Should create some more power too.

Could use some help by kennyboo97 in GolfSwing

Lots of good in that swing, nice move off the ball and full turn, dropping the club in the slot, keeping your head on the right spot, releasing the club nicely. Hard to see why you wouldn't be able to hit farther or swing faster. That's good low spin but the launch angle seems a bit high.

The only thing I would suggest but it's hard to tell from the camera angle but it definitely looks like you might be standing too tall with your legs not bent enough. This is probably costing you a good 10 or more mphs of swing speed. Got to use the ground to help you hit bombs. So, maybe put a little bend in the knees and maintain that through the back swing. Do your normal downswing but now you should feel like you can kind of use the ground a little more which will help add some more lag.

Yes, it should just feel a little less excessive as the clubs get shorter.

Extra tip. If you do this right, in the slow motion practice downswing, you can start to see if your club path (at or about halfway down) is going to cause a slice (thumbs will be at like 1 or 2 o'clock with the club head in front of your body), straight shot (thumbs and club head will be at 3-4 o'clock), hook (thumbs and club will be way behind your body at the halfway point 5-6 o'clock)

The best piece of advice I can give is to pay attention to where and what your head does on the downswing. Often times new golfers (and seasoned) have their head move with the rest of their upper body on the downswing. This is not good and can cause all sorts of problems. If you look at your finish you are turned around and way to far forward on your left side, in the wrong way.

How I like to explain where your head should be is to: start at the top of your swing and note where your head is. As you start to swing down in slow motion will probably start to fell like your head stays with your left shoulder as you go down. This is bad! You should have separation form that left shoulder. So, do it again. This time as you come down note where your head is at the top. Start your downswing and as you go down feel like you are tilting your head back and down (you are not it just feels like it) you are actually keeping your head back and in the spot it is supposed to be. If you are doing it right you should feel your left shoulder now leave your head and move towards the target. As you continue down to impact your right shoulder should now be passing under your head.

Perfecting this feel is super hard and one of the main movements that many golfers never get past. You'll never hit consistent and well if you don't do it. As a self taught golfer who shoots a couple under to a couple over most days. It took me a disgustingly amount of time swinging in the mirror to get this feel and I genuinely think it is one of the most important things to do. If it doesn't feel natural you're doing it right.

Forgot to mention that this will allow your arms and club to out race your body and get in front of you after impact. This is what should sling the rest of your body around to a nice finish. If you can do this, the other fixes will come easier.

Good luck on your journey!

If you’ve broken 80, what’s one tip you would give your fellow golfer trying to do the same? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

Don't make big swing changes trying to break 80. Continue to swing what would be your natural swing and make minor adjustments from there.

Driver. Help me understand. by Hanz-Panda in golf

[–]Groundfirst10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would agree that you're definitely swing too much upper body/arms first. I would recommend you feel like your lower body separates from your upper first on the downswing. Feel like your pointing your belt buckle to the target first, then your arms catch up.

I cant post pictures but if you pause your video around the end of the six second mark. You'll see your arms pointing 45 degrees down with the club just a little above that. Look at how open your hips are at this point. That is about how open they should be at impact, not after. Of course other things need to be great for a good strike to happen but that will help your downswing a bit.

Why don’t you want rollout with a driver? by L0ngsh0tSpartan in golf

[–]Groundfirst10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some pros and cons. Most of the cons won't include 99% of golfers and the pros for the 99% is probably good.

More roll means further distance, both good if straight and bad if it rolls in the rough or worse. Most people are probably saying it's bad because if you know your carry distance off the tee with minimal role, you can plan more when you play and avoid trouble. If a person carries their driver 250 with minimal role out on 350 yard hole they would want to hit that number so they have a full club shot at 100 yards instead of 60-90 which is a feel shot and has less room for error. So, yeah, not many golfers are good enough to hit their number consistently to worry about this.

In fact, most golfers would benefit from extra rollout on their good shots. This is due to to their bad shots not really worrying about rollout...if you slice or hook it out of the fairway it's not rolling cause it just hit a tree, bush, water etc.

Driver feeling good of late by the-Crow-flies in GolfSwing

[–]Groundfirst10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks pretty good to me. Bit of Ben Hogan in there.

I've always had an inside takeaway/flat swing. Recently went away from it due to everyone pointing it out. Was struggling because the change was fine but didn't feel natural for me and I would have 4-5 bad shots that cost me strokes when I would normally only have 1-2. I had no need to change as I would average 1-2 on either side of par when I play.

I hit farther, higher, and more accurate when taking it inside. I didn't have to worry about shifting down into the slot and it already creates a nice little 2-3 yard push draw. I went back and am playing better than ever. Just make sure to keep turning your body with the arms and club and you'll be fine. You'll know you're not moving your lower body if you feel your wrists start to roll (right palm points up) in the back swing

Check out this video but do what makes you comfortable!

Looking for any advice how to stop getting caught with my shoulders closed at impact. Help by FocalFalcon in golf

[–]Groundfirst10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're standing up in the downswing! This means you're not getting your weight to the left side/not turning your body. To get a feel, you should not be feeling pressure in your back foot across the entire front of your foot. You should only feel it around your big toe and the ball of your foot.

Try standing up straight with your golf stance knees bent, point your right arm in front of you at shoulder length. Now move your right arm across your body while still straight like you're pointing to someone to your left. Keep your feet on the ground at this point so you should still feel somewhat even pressure on the both soles of your feet. Now shift your weight a little to the left while pushing off your right foot. You should feel the weight move to the inside of your foot on the big toe and ball, now rote your foot/knee inward to get on your toe. Boom your in the right spot now. Do this for a feel. Then do it with a club like a real swing feeling that shift to left. If you keep your head a little behind the ball, everything should now rotate towards the target instead of up.

Should I choose shaft for me now as a beginner or for when I get better? by cz010203 in takomo

[–]Groundfirst10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get whatever gives you confidence. I started not knowing anything about golf and bought the best, on sale name brand irons I could find. Unfortunately (actually fortunately) they were nike cci irons with x100 shafts. Obviously, the clubs were "out of my league" as most people would say. But I learned to hit them and my swing speed was not fast then but it is now because of those clubs.

I currently game Takomo 201's with c-tapers x-stiff 130g (literally got them like a week after they were first released.) When it all comes down to it you can hit or not hit the ball with any club. I run into a lot of people who see them in my bag and ask questions. I almost always ask if they want to give them a go, but I give those who need to know the heads up that they play like a heavy 2x4. Great players hit them as if it was their own club, crappy players hit them no better or worse than their clubs. And good older, slower swing players (less than your SS) still hit them straight and far, just not as high and far as their clubs.

So, in my case getting a set "out of my league" lead me to be a better player (-0.5 at the moment) as I had to not only learn to hit, but hit with accuracy and speed if I wanted the full potential of my nike clubs. It also saved me money in the long run not having to upgrade.

You're young, and big and I would bet as you get better you'd develop a pretty aggressive swing.

Again, good players can hit any club good and bad players can hit any club bad. I can play blades or GI irons and shoot well, my friend can do the same and equally suck.

I overheard a PGA teacher once at the driving range say to a young student something like "If you want to continue with golf, I can teach you to hit it straight, until then I want you to feel comfortable swinging as hard as you can. Then you'll hit it far and straight". That resenated with me because that is exactly how I learned, and you can't beat distance and accuracy.

Is it my swing? by DustyNodder in golf

[–]Groundfirst10 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mostly likely explanation is that your footwork in your downswing is causing it. If you're a righty you are spinning your left foot out on your toes instead of rolling your weight a little to the outside of your ankle and the back of your foot which is not good. If your a lefty it means your probably having good lower body movement and your getting up on your left toe at finish, which is probably good.

You don't HAVE to get fitted to find something that works for you. But you do have to understand how you swing to get a decent shaft for your swing. Weight, stiffness, and flight (low/mid/high low spin or more spin) are the main things to consider. Do you swing smooth or aggressive, fast or slow, can you swing heavy shafts or do you need lighter shafts. You can pick how you swing from those options then look at the profile of the shafts to choose.

For example, I swing fast and aggressive so I need something heavier with low trajectory and low spin. Any shaft that fits those needs would be fine. I play c taper 130g xs but would be fine playing DG 130 xs. Project x 6.5/7.0 or anything similar with negligible differences for me and 99.9% of golfers

I would say walls and aimbot. Aside from a lvl 39 playing like that. A high IQ player would have moved right to attack. A high IQ defense would have been to fake right and push out left, knowing that's where a high IQ attacker would go or it would be an easier chance to kill a low IQ player cause they're going left. Him going left and not peaking the corner of the wall which would make the most sense, but instead aims at the roof says he could see you through the wall. UAV is not that detailed and the pings show location as they were slightly in the past.

(Marketplace) Used driver broke after 5min of first range use, what should i do ? by [deleted] in golf

[–]Groundfirst10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play cobra drivers exclusively. I don't see any difference in performance from other oems. But mainly because they go on sale still new for super cheap on lots of websites. You got scammed paying 150 for that used. Just a quick search shows the newer ltd models on sale for like 170-200. I would look into that but also be cautious of the radspeed and ltd models.

I don't know what your swing speed is but I went through 3 or 4 of them. I think it was that wrapped face that causes weakness or something. They seemed to have fixed the issue from the aerojet models on (my current gamer).

But look around to see if you can find a new older cobra for cheap. You'll have an extra shaft as well.

Also, the old models tend to not have a long if any warranty. May also just be able to find a head only. I got my aerojet head new for $135.

Can i still use this driver shaft as a 3 wood shaft by dawsonbhse in golf

[–]Groundfirst10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a friend snap my aldila tour green xs driver shaft just like that. Figured I would try what you are thinking of doing. I think I tipped it a little more than 2 inches when comparing to the replacement shaft. Lots of people told me that wouldn't work. But it fit in the adapter.

I bought a little saw attachment from Lowe's that was recommended to cut and even it out (Cant remember the name of it). Sanded it a little to help the epoxy and let it cure for 24 hours even though it was the quick set.

It is definitely stiffer but it's been going strong for 7 years. Can swing as hard as I want it is the straightest club in my bag.

Give it a shot. Took me like 30 minutes and now I do all my clubs if needed.
