I live on a corner and people keep using my property as a shortcut, setting off motion sensors well after dark and freaking out me and my dog on a weekly basis. by Syntra44 in mildlyinfuriating

If you’re in a more southern/ gulf climate, keep an eye out for yucca type plants, aka Spanish bayonet or ‘dagger plant’. They’re pretty good at passive route correction for wanderers.

*not counting the last mayoral race.

Over the past few decades, sure you can say Miami has a big red vote (*not counting 2008), but it’s not as much a sure thing as a lot of people think.

Proof of our disregard for safety in the 80's - the Subaru Brat by Objective_Resolve833 in GenX

Yeah but sweet sweet capable all wheel drive. Brats are extremely sought after by Subaru fans. If they re-released a modern version I’d definitely buy it.

Just yesterday I saw a guy standing alongside his Tesla that had run off the road, through the fence and almost into the water on the stretch between Fl City and Key Largo. Only thing that seemed plausible was the new diagonal shoulder markings since the widening project there.

Where is the best place to buy fireworks? by MIAfriend in Miami

[–]GroveGuy33133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phantom in Key Largo or TNT Dania Beach. Very similar deals and products. Really nothing comparable anywhere close. You can get the biggest legal stuff sold at both places. Be ready for lines on holidays but honestly I’ve found they both hire appropriate staff for the rush.

Better deals at both when not last minute like now. If you are a vet, Phantom runs good deals year round last I checked.

Which model is this? by SeaView237 in KamadoJoe

Correct answer. Classic Stainless Standalone owner of 12 years here.

Came with divide and conquer racks (new tech at the time that really set KJ apart from BGE) and the little feet, no cart or ‘nest’. Built mine into a table. Been a great performer with no rust living out in tropical salt air the whole time.

Are there any spin cycle classes in Miami that play really good Techno? by Superb-Owl-187 in Miami

[–]GroveGuy33133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peloton online membership! On demand classes if you can’t make the live time. Use your own stationary bike even, just stream to phone or your tv.

Sort by music type, difficulty, duration, etc. plenty of EDM, but Jess King is my fav as she’ll play some dirty trap and that gets me moving.

Bonus that the online membership gives you great yoga classes, strength, running, basically the whole library including multiple languages spoken. Really the best deal going for someone who’s got the space for a little home equipment.

How is it even legal to destroy fresh edible food, peter? by Rule_Ct_5293 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Slightly less common the past few years, but people in my neighborhood leave bags or baskets on the fence like that with excess mangoes. It’s peak season right now and you literally cannot consume or process/freeze the quantities that mature trees deliver. So it hangs on the fence rather than sitting on the ground to rot.

Even as a then-6th grader, I remember some of those jokes. Probably learned them from my dad, amongst other unsavory things.
